Weather Update- March 9, 2026

Good Monday morning,

It was another amazing weekend!

As mentioned many times before, it’s crazy to think how unusual this rainy year has been. We are well above normal rainfall, thanks to three different storm events that each lasted about two weeks.

Then, in between, just incredible summer-like warm weather.

Today, a low-pressure system in Baja, Mexico, is moving east. It won’t significantly affect our area, but it will bring slightly cooler weather today. Temperatures are expected to return to the 80s by Wednesday and continue through next weekend.

The best news of all is that daylight saving time is back. Aside from having to climb on the kitchen counter to move the clock ahead, it’s great to have daylight lasting into the 7:00 p.m. hour. Mornings will start a bit darker for now, but that won’t last long as the days continue to get longer. By May, we’ll be seeing daylight as early as 5:00 a.m. The equinox is also just six days away on March 15.

Not much more to say about the weather… It’s simply been fabulous. No need to drive anywhere—just get out and enjoy Santa Barbara. Besides, with gas prices creeping toward $5.00 a gallon, staying local isn’t such a bad idea. I’m especially grateful to have an electric truck and solar at home. ☀️🔌

Enjoy the week ahead. It’s starting off a bit chilly this morning, but temperatures will warm up quickly, with hot weather expected from Wednesday through Sunday. 🌞

Enjoy the week!
