Wow. The last day of September….October arrives on Friday.
September will roll into October with just great weather, if you enjoyed the warmer weather on Wednesday.
It gets better the next few days and through the weekend. In Santa Barbara, 82 today and no fog.
The Santa Ynez valley, chilly now at 43, but high will be 93…that’s a 50 degree change….Welcome to fall.

Good Monday morning,
I hope everyone had a nice weekend, even if it was cool and foggy.
Today will be more of the same, with fog and little to no clearing.
The high in Santa Barbara will only be in the low 60s. It is 58 now and it will only warm 5 to 7 degrees all day,You will need your sweatshirt most of the day.

The valleys will not be much warmer with upper 60s to low 70s as a high.
Yesterday even Paso Robles had a high of 74.
Compare that to the past 3 months of 90s and 100 plus.
We will stay cool through Tuesday as the front in the Pacific Northwest passes though.
On Wednesday it looks like onshore flow will change to offshore and begin to warm us up into the weekend. Typically, October is our warmest month, but we will need to see how that plays out. Certainly, September has been much cooler then average.
Enjoy your week, cooler but still great to live in Southern California.

Good Monday morning,
Great full moon last night with a photo of the moon rise over Ed’s house, and set at mine.

Today and Tuesday, northeast winds will warm us up for 2 days.
It will be a nice few days with clear skies and highs around 80in Santa Barbara.
Valleys will be warmer in the upper 80s. Here is how it looks from above https://zoom.earth/
Wednesday, the warm weather goes away, and a cool down begins on the first official day of Fall.
As we get towards the weekend, it looks like we will see a cut off low form.
Remember these? We have not talked about them for at least 6 months.
Confidence is low, but rain is not out of the question.
Stay tuned, but don’t get your hopes too high. It is still only September.
We will likely have 1 more month before we see our first rain of the new season.
Bring a jacket to the Lumineers show at the bowl Wednesday night, as fall arrives.
Fall equinox Wednesday, 12 hours of day light and darkness https://www.almanac.com/content/first-day-fall-autumnal-equinox
Have a great week!

Good Thursday morning,
Shorter days and mid-September mean’s Fall is upon us.
We are in a cool down as low pressure is affecting our weather with lower temps.
Highs in the valley will be 80 degrees and lows are going to start dipping into the upper 40s.
In Santa Barbara, highs around 70 and lows around 52. It is time to break out that sweatshirt to start mornings.
To the north it looks like the Bay area might even see some rain on Sunday. This all means our weather pattern is beginning to shift.
Our weather will have little changes through the weekend, with fog in the mornings and cooler nights.
Next week we will see a gradual warm up.
Take a look at the photos of the rocket launch on Monday at Vandenburg. Pretty cool photos from Adam.
This contained the Starlink satellites (some 51 satellite’s) which will help with high speed internet.
Don’t forget the sweatshirt today

 Good Tuesday morning,
A little late today, but busy morning.
Today it feels like fall is in the air. Last night the fog drifted in at Las Positas and lead to a damp start to out morning. It will be an overall cooler day along the coast high of 69, but valleys will still reach 90 today. Cooler nights (fall weather) with lows in santa Ynez of 52, SB 56.
A cooler week ahead for all with coastal highs around 70 and valleys dropping into the 80s Wednesday.
Some tropical moisture exists down in Mexico, but no hurricane just some rain for them.
To the north, fall-like weather and some rain way to the north.
Enjoy the damp mornings!

Good Monday morning,
It will be a calm week weather wise, with inland areas cooling into the 80s and coastal in the mid 70s. Today we will start out with fog in most locations then clearing, a damp start to the day.
Really all week will be quiet here in California. Highs in the 80s inland and 70s coastal.
By the weekend we will start a slight warm up, but nothing over the top.
In the Pacific Northwest, the storm track is beginning to sag south. This will hopefully help the Northern California fires that have been burning all summer long.
Enjoy the calm week.

Good Friday morning,
There is lots of Action north and south of us.
To the north, the good news is there is cooler weather and some rain in northern California helping the fires.
To the South, Cabo has taken a beating with Hurricane Olaf, now just to the north of Cabo.
The internet is out there right now, so I will get some updates once it comes back, but it was looking very stormy yesterday.
Before the hurricane hit land, here are some photos attached:

This is how it looks from the sky: https://zoom.earth/
Back Home, we will just have great summer weather.
Santa Barbara will be perfect with highs around 80 each day, and lows in the upper 50s to low 60s.
The ocean temp is a cool 64 degrees ( no hurricanes here.) Pearl will be very happy knowing that low tide will be 8:15 Saturday and 9:30 am of Sunday.
We will need to do a beach morning.
In the valleys it will be warm in the low 90s, cooling by next Tuesday into the upper 80s.
Enjoy great September weather in California.
More Cabo photos from David on Saturday when the internet returns.

Good Thursday morning,
It will be a hot day for all locations except for the beach cities.
The state has call for a second day with flex alerts as AC will be cranked up in the inland areas. Only the natural air conditioner “Pacific Ocean “ will not be under a flex alert.
Today Santa Barbara will be a nice 80 degrees, with the same weather continuing into the weekend. The Pacific is keeping the fog with nice cool weather along the coast.
Inland, and just 30 miles inland, it is a different story with 90s and 100 plus throughout the rest of the state.

Looking south into the Baja, hurricane Olaf is going to give Cabo plenty of rain for the next 2 days. This is a Cat 1 Hurricane with 65 to75 mile an hour winds that will brush the tip of cabo before going out to the pacific. By Saturday it will hit colder waters and become a tropical storm.

Looks like some relief for Sunday in the inland areas with 10 degrees of cooling.
Here is the rest of the world: https://zoom.earth/
Enjoy the cool coastal weather, I am thankful…

Good Tuesday morning,
Interesting, looking though the entire US it is mostly clear with no rain, except for near the Canada-Great Lakes border.

Here at home we are starting out with a tropical morning and 70 degrees.
Just some fog along the coast, which will burn off quickly.
Providing a warm September day in the 80s along the coast and 90s in the valleys.
