September 2016

9/28/16 Cooling??

Good morning,

Yes, I am sure everyone is tired of the heat. I know my guys on the roof are. The only one celebrating is my water service. I think we have gone through 80 gallons of water this week.

The heat will be 5 to 10 degrees cooler today, but sadly you might not feel it.

Why is that? Well take a look at the satellite picture

What is happening is there is a low pressure system in Mexico that is bringing the humid air over us. So where it will be cooler in temp, the humidity will still make it feel HOT…

Cooling will continue into the week, and by the weekend we might get highs in the low 70’s thanks to a dry system coming down from the north.

Stay cool, it will cool down soon. Can you believe that we will be in October in a few days… Our first rain is less than 30 days away… Amen for that!

9/22/16 Today’s Weather and Weekend Forecast

First off….welcome to fall! How do we explain fall to friends outside of California the fall in Santa Barbara is not the traditional fall weather that others expect, with cooler temps and leaves falling from trees.

We should just call it wind, fire, heat or Santa Anna season.

What fall does do is make each weeks weather change from summer hot to cooler pattern. This first week of fall will show us just that.

Today and Friday it will be cooler with highs in the 70s, some wind, but not that much for us in SB.

Friday night it all changes, as the first Santa Anna event of the fall starts.

Ventura south get ready for heat and a lot of wind through Monday.

Santa Barbara will have no wind, just HOT. We will see 90s here.

Yes, beach weather !

I think September and October are the best months in SB. So enjoy!

Ventura -Oxnard and Santa Anna prone areas. It will be a good weekend to visit Santa Barbara. Or be indoors…..

         Enjoy

9/20/16 Tuesday Weather

Good morning,

It was quite muggy yesterday and it is starting out the same way today. It was a nice sunset last night.

Yesterday brought us like 30 drops of rain, that was the big storm.

Today the low moves east, with the rain chances exiting. Still some possible showers of the mountains, but were not going to see anything.

The rest of the week will change every two days.

The next wave will be cooler for Wednesday and Thursday.

Friday a big warm up will begin for the weekend. It will be quite hot this weekend.

Ok a quickie today, have a great day

Now this is a shot to share, great picture  thanks Rob

9/19/16 New Week’s Weather

First of all check out this picture. It is Hendry beach on Saturday night. (Thanks Vanessa what a great shot.)

Otherwise our weather this week is difficult to call for the first part. Models always have a hard time figuring out systems coming from the south. This is a tough forecast to start the week. It looks like the models are backing off on the rain chances, when yesterday they said they might need to bump them up. If you take a look at the satellite picture you can see the subtropical moisture getting pumped up from Mexico.

http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html

It actually looks pretty good on the picture, but the national weather service does no feel like there will be much in rain chances now. They have really backed down on this. Rain chances are greatest later in the day through Tuesday, but less than 20% according to them.

I think I will be conservative and see what happens between today and Tuesday.

By Wednesday we will have an inside slider come down from the north. This will bring some wind but no rain.

By Friday they are talking about a good Santa Anna wind event, so Ventura south will blow hard and Santa Barbara will get really hot.

Enjoy the week, we will see if we can squeeze a little rain out of those clouds.

9/12/16 Rain?

Good Monday morning,

Yes we have a decent chance to see some measurable rain overnight. Not a lot, but enough to wet the streets. Maybe 5/100 of an inch.  Http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-WV.HTML

Look at the new graphics you can see the system dropping down over us. Also take a look at the hurricane to the south of us. This may bring some waves for you surfers.  Looks like it will move north northwest. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/text/refresh/MIATWDEP+shtml/120853_MIATWDEP.shtml

As far as the rest of the week goes we will be cooler the first half, and then warm up Thursday and Friday..

Fall is in the air, enjoy…

9/2/16 September Forecast #2

Good Friday morning,

Looks like the holiday weekend is here. Traffic will start up later today with all those folks heading out of town.

For me, I will watch them all drive down the road, I am hanging out here.

First my apologies for the sweatshirt forecast. You did not need it last night at the Bowl. It was nice and perfect weather all night long. Also what about Journey’s new lead singer. He was so good! May not have fit the look of Steve Perry, But it was a great show.

For the weather, we will see cooler temps. Fog is here, and even some areas of drizzle are possible Saturday.

Cooler weather through the weekend, but you will not be disappointed. It will still be great weather in Santa Barbara. Just a little cooler.

Hawaii is looking a little safer as it looks like the next hurricane will go to the east and miss the direct hit.

September means Jack needs to start being more regular on forecasts again, rain is just 6 weeks away. Now that’s exciting!!!!

September 1st 2016

Well,

There goes another month!!! September first. Summer is still in full swing here, but other parts of the country will start to feel the changes soon.

For us the beginning of September will bring cooler temps. Looks like the fog is back and will grow on Friday. Expect more marine layer Friday and Saturday.

Sunday we will start a warm up.

Looks like Hawaii is missing a direct hit on the first hurricane. One more to go. We will see what happens this weekend
