September 2015

9/30/15 Wednesday Update

Good Wednesday Morning,

Jack’s world has been completely crazy with work everywhere, so weather updates have been tough…

Quick update for this week’s weather.

Looks like a weak system to the north will bring a few showers as far south as SLO tonight and Thursday…

For us only wind, yes it does look like a fairly strong sundowner wind tonight.  35 to 45 miles an hour in wind prone areas (west facing)

After that a weak off shore ridge will form.

Then Sunday another weak system will find it way to us again. This will give us a slight chance of rain Sunday, however no rain Saturday…

Maybe a few degrees cooler than previous thought.

Get ready for wind tonight, then stay tuned for updated weekend weather…

9/23/15 Mid-Week Update

Good Wednesday Morning,

Not a lot of excitement out there for weather. A matter of fact it looks to be high and dry for the extended period. If you look at the satellite picture, there is really nothing out there. Only the Pacific Northwest will have a system in there neck of the woods

For us, it has been a nice cool down, but don’t get used to it. Temps will be on the rise each day. Valleys will be in the 90s and 100s Friday into the weekend.

Coastal areas will not be as hot, but still a nice weekend.

Enjoy the sunshine and stay cool

I have to share this with you all. This is the weather service saying we missed the weekend and rain forecast

9/18/15 Weekend Weather

Good Friday,

Easy forecast for the weekend. If you like warm, sunny weather, then it is just another great weekend for you. Expect all areas to be in the 80s and 90s Friday and Saturday.

Sunday more of the same, but we might see the start of clouds entering the area.

Maybe a bit of a buildup of the white puffy clouds over the mountain.

Yes this is where the changes will begin, and where the questions of rain come back into the forecast.

There is a low that is going to drop down and Seattle off the Baja coast and then spin around. This will begin to pump subtropical clouds from the south and start our chances of rain again.

Computer Models are all over the board with this system at this point. The only thing we really know is there will be a chance of rain Monday afternoon though Wednesday.

There are 4 different computer models that are used; all vary from 1/4 inch to 1 to 2 inches of rain.

We will have to watch and see how this plays out.

Needless to say we will be watching the weather closely into the beginning of the week.

For the short term only summer like conditions for the next 3 day…

Enjoy the weekend!

9/15/15 Rainy Day

Rainy day,

As you wake up the word is rain… Looks like we will see rain through the morning , then turn to showers this afternoon.

Looks like the winner for rain is goleta .41 inch of rain so far

http://www.cnrfc.noaa.gov/images/countyPrecipMaps/santabarbara_24HRprecip.png

Rain should continue this morning, then taper off this afternoon.  Looks like we will be high and dry Wednesday for the rest of the week.

Rain totals are a lot higher to the south of us… LA , Ventura totals are double of ours.

Have a good day… Off to the roofs as soon as the light of day occurs

9/14/15 Monday Morning Update

Is it going to rain?  That is the big question of the day….

So, here is the scoop that we do know. The trough to the north is diving south.

http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/lox/scripts/animate.php?root=sat_16km&list=IR16.GIF.3.jpg,IR16.GIF.4.jpg,IR16.GIF.5.jpg,IR16.GIF.6.jpg,IR16.GIF.7.jpg,IR16.GIF.8.jpg

With moisture from Linda waiting for the low to arrive, the combination of the 2 will create rain.

The biggest problem is that computer models do not handle southerly moisture very well. This is causing all models to be in disagreement with one another.

On top of that the radar for Vandenberg is down, so we cannot see the rain coming in.

What we think will happen is rain will develop later in the day. For us in Santa Barbara there is even a slight chance today. Rain becomes more likely tonight and into Tuesday.

How much?

Not really sure…1/4 of an inch is something that was being talked about for us. And double that in LA area. The LA mountains are looking at up to an inch of rain.

But sadly only time will tell…The models are not really sure.

So of course we will get ready for rain today, and we will see what the night time brings.

Rain chances continue on Tuesday, with clearing Wednesday through the rest of the week.

Things will warm up again at the end of the week

Have a great day, we will hope for rain tonight!

9/9/15 Wednesday Weather

Good morning,

Hurricane Linda is moving north right now. The big question is how will this affect us.

After reading lots of reports and models . It comes down to no one really knows.

At least in the short term it looks like the moisture will stay to the south and east of our area.

The long term and later in the week or weekend. Some models call for moisture in our area… We will need to see what develops.

9/8/15 Hot Week Ahead

Boy it is going to be hot for the week  http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?Lon=-119.71899&lat=34.42172#.Ve7mncvH9-Y

Wednesday into Thursday more humid weather coming up from hurricane Linda, which is now pounding cabo with rain….

It does not look like it will create rain for us, maybe south and east of us…

Stay cool

Tuesday 9/1/15

Hope everyone is well,

Weather is not very exciting this week. Looks like we are in a bit of a cool down.

Some coastal areas will see fog, and everyone will see cooler temps this work week.

This is a welcomed relief.  As the weekend approaches we will begin to warm up some for the Labor Day holiday.

Yes, the 3 day weekend is right around the corner. Oh by the way welcome to September!!!!

Christmas is coming fast…………

For a little fun, the surf temps have reached an all-time high that I have seen… 74 degrees today….

Low tide is 5:55 am and 6:30 PM I might need to find time to take pearl to the beach. Lunch time will be high tide.

Take a look at the weak low approaching us

Also the hurricanes out in the Pacific. Lots of action just east of the Hawaiian island. Just big surf for them http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/category/190631/hawaii-news-now-hurricane-center

Ok have a great day…
