10/24/17 Holy Heat Wave
WOW,
3:30 AM and it is almost 80 degrees here is Santa Barbara .and it is 90 in Camarillo right now…. You know it is going to be a hot day if you wake up to 90 degrees at 3:30 am.
Yesterday of course broke records everywhere. SB had a record of 102 and Camarillo 106, just to name a few.
I think we will break the records again today. The heat wave is one of the hottest I have ever seen here. Thank God for air conditioning.
I am pretty strict about when we turn on A/C, but I had to turn it on at 3 am. It was Over 80 in my House.
Santa Anna winds today are going to be strong. Lots of wind and heat for Ventura and south.
For SB and everywhere north it will just be hot! Everyone will hit the triple digits again.
Wednesday will also be hot, but the Santa Anna will start to break down. Expect a little cooler, but still crazy hot in the 90’s everywhere.
Thursday and Friday a bit of a break, if that what you call it. 80’s and 90’s is a break!!
The weekend more of the same.
The next break will come next week. Bring back the 70’s.
In the meantime…. Shade, air conditioning and lots of water…. I feel bad for my guys on the roofs.
Bring a roofer a Popsicle!
Stay hydrated…
Make the day as good as you can, with all this heat!

10/23/17 Hot Hot Weather
Good Monday morning,
Are you ready for heat ??? Well whether you are ready or not. It is going to be really hot all week. No relief until next week at this point…
Look at the opening page of the national weather service. This tells the facts.
We are going to have a strong Santa Anna wind event. Our friends in Ventura and south are going to see HOT plus winds. Winds are going to be steady 15 to 25 miles per hour, with gusts of 50 Miles per hour.
This will be in affect through Tuesday. This will create high fire danger in all the wind areas. Http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?x=226&y=136&site=lox&zmx=&zmy=&map_x=226&map_y=136#.We3O4WhSyUl
For Santa Barbara, no wind, but really hot.
A matter of fact. We are looking at triple digits for almost everyone the next 2 to 3 days.

You say you want some relief from the heat. Well the weather gods say, not this week…
It looks like a ridge will break down Thursday and be replaced with another one. The same thing happens Friday into the weekend. It might not be 100 degrees all week, but upper 80’s and 90’s are likely the entire week.
That’s the good, the bad, and the ugly
Have a good week, pack lots of water in your lunch bags.

10/12/17 Fire Weather
Good morning,
Ugly up north and south with all the fires. The winds have been making firefighting extremely difficult. Within the state in the last week we have lost over 3,500 homes in the fires.
If you look at this link. You will see we have a red flag warning for tonight in SB. Looks like another sundowner wind event with surface winds along the coast at 15 to 25 miles an hour… this is thanks to a weak low pressure system blowing through.
Friday high pressure builds back in. It is going to warm up again. The winds will shift to the south in Ventura and Oxnard, setting up another Santa Anna wind event. This will occur Saturday and Sunday.
Here in SB, no wind, just warm. The valley will also creep into the 90s this weekend. If you live in Ventura or Oxnard areas. I suggest a drive to SB. It will be very windy there, but not here.
Next Tuesday, it looks like a cool down again…
Well, that’s the best I can do with the forecast. October is always a rough month for fire danger, and since we are getting to the middle of the month, we will start to look for our first chance of rain at the end of the month . Around Halloween.
Have a good weekend
Another week gone….
