11/29/19
Good Friday Morning,
I hope everyone had a nice day off in the middle of the week. It was quite interesting weather for southern California. We typically don’t see snow and hail here.
Today as I woke up, I had to think about what day it is. “For me a work day”.
For all those Crazy people that are going shopping, you better dress warm. It is cold and windy out there.
Today we will only see highs in the 50s along the coast, and tonight quite cold, with Santa Ynez below freezing.
Temps are 15 to 20 degrees below normal. That means quite cold.
We still have a chance of rain or snow today, but will be quite scattered, with no more then ¼ of a inch where it does rain.
Cold cold again tonight. I even had to break down and turn on my heater. “Great job Brian at Beyond heating and Air it works great “ The forecast looks like another wet pattern ahead:
Saturday another chilly day, but mostly sunny…. Saturday later in the afternoon the rain chances return. Models have struggled with exactly where it will rain.
This system is tapping into a fetch of sub tropical moisture which will feed the low and cause rain. This means there will be an 80 mile stretch of rain, then elsewhere, no rain.
At this point, it does look to be aimed at the central coast. Santa Barbara is on the cuff. We will see what happens on Saturday morning. Here is how it looks from the sky:
https://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html
Rain Saturday night for SLO and SB County, we will see how far south it goes, but Ventura and south will likely see no rain Sunday. Monday and Tuesday there will be rain somewhere. We just do not know where at this point. The moisture may push north of SLO or hang around ….
This is why the forecast shows a chance of rain everywhere, better safe than sorry…. I guess … it will be a warmer system Wednesday, however, we are looking at rain, all models are showing rain swinging through southern California.
Thanks for sharing Photos of all the interesting weather here and far.
Have a great Friday or extended weekend.
We will update Saturday morning.
Hope everyone enjoyed there Turkey , I know Guadalupe Did😊.
11/29/19 Thanksgiving Forecast
Good Chilly Thanksgiving Day Morning,
I slept in till 5am. That’s a treat…
Chilly, wet and rainy is our Thanksgiving Day forecast.
Starting out the day it is in the low 40s in Santa Barbara and 35 degrees in Santa Ynez.
Snow level is at 2500 feet with 6 inches of snow on the Grape vine.
The only good to that is 1 lane is open to traffic.
This really is a classic Thanksgiving day in Southern California, experiencing what most of the country sees in this day.
We get to live it this year, like all the others.
The low pressure system moving through has lots of cold air and showers with it.
Showers will continue throughout the morning, then taper in the afternoon.
Shower chances continue throughout the day and into the first half of Friday.
However, as it gets later in the day the chances are being reduced.
LA however, will have a wet day. Rain totals there will be higher than ours.
Here are our rain total through the storm, everyone has seen 1 to 2 inches.
https://www.wrh.noaa.gov/lox/scripts/getlocal.php?prod=LAXRRMSBA
Here is how it looks on the satellite:
https://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html
Moving into the weekend, we will see dry cold weather Friday and Saturday.
Saturday night and through Wednesday, we will see rain at times.
The difficulty with this next system is when, how much and where the rain will fall.
They will figure this out by Saturday morning, but for now….rain will occur in SLO and Santa Barbara counties Saturday night through Sunday. Rain totals are still not clear.
Models show rain, but differ, one shows a lot of rain. LA should see nothing.
Monday through Wednesday is still not clear also. It does look like everyone will see rain Wednesday next week including LA.
This will be a warmer system. Snow level will rise to resort levels.
A lot of words for Thanksgiving Day. Enjoy family and friends today.
We should all be thankful for what we do have. I know I love my life, friends, family and of course Santa Barbara.
Have a great Thanksgiving day!
11/27/19
Good Wednesday morning,
The rain is falling right on time. Started up fairly heavy at 3:30 am.
From fires to rain and likely some flooding is the story line for the thanksgiving week.
The firemen, bombers, planes and helicopters did a great job on the fire yesterday.
Mother Nature will help out today and Thursday.
What should we expect?
Rain is going to fall fairly heavy for a 2 to 3 hour period.
We are expecting 1/2 to 1 inch costal and 1 1/2 on south facing Santa Barbara mountains and freshly burned areas.
Rain will taper to showers this afternoon. Showers will continue through Thursday.
It looks like Thursday morning, a fresh batch of rain will give us a 3 to 4 hour of heavier rain.
This will also bring in the cold air with snow in the mountains.
Friday and Saturday day, look to be dry.
Saturday night through Wednesday is just not clear. Models all are different for the period.
They do agree that rain will start up Saturday late in the day in SLO and western Santa Barbara county.
This will be heavier rain and good totals.
The million dollar question is how far south this will go. Models think SB will get some for sure.
Then next week models show rain moving north or south. They can’t decide right now.
Long term models are even calling for heavy rain next Wednesday.
This is too far out to know.
What we do know is the rain is coming down now and south winds are blowing. 50 miles an hour in the mountains.
It will be an interesting 36 hours and we will see how we hold up.
Here it is from the sky:
https://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html
Enjoy, we will be getting wet at Action Roofing covering lots of roofs today.
11/26/19
Holy Moly,
What a night it was watching the fire grow. From My vantage point I could see it all with my eyes. Winds last night reached 82 miles an hour in the Montecito foothills. The fire started up high, then boom it was down to San Antonio creek area. I watched all the fire trucks rolling up the pass. The good news is it seems to be 1/10 of what it was when I went to bed. Here is now and last night’s photos from my stage, or back yard.
The fire still stretches around 6 miles, but is much calmer this morning.
Last night at its worst:
Now, for the Rain event.
Rain will move in over night. This one has stayed on track and nothing has changed.
Rain will start tonight around midnight in SLO, then move South to Santa Barbara around 4 am. Then LA right around rush hour.
Rain fall is still 1 to 2 inches coastal through Thursday.
2 to 3 inches in the foothills and mountains.
Snow level will not drop to 2500 or 3000 feet until Thursday morning. This means the grapevine will be safe till then. 3 to 6 inches of snow will likely fall on the grapevine on Thanksgiving day.
Looks like we start to clear up Friday and Saturday during the day.
Then, another Pacific storm moves in Saturday night through possible Tuesday.
This one is tough to call, because it is coming off the pacific. We really can’t tell what it will do until 1 to 2 days before arrival.
The models have no agreement at this point, but there is a potential for this to be a good rain maker with a prolonged period of rain and high accumulations.
We will need to watch this closely as we get into Friday. In the meantime, get ready for cold and rain.
The only good part to the rain is it will be a big fire hose.
Never dull in southern California.
11/25/19
It was a great Sunday, with fantastic weather in November. My back yard at 3:30 pm.
Good Monday morning,
Here we go. The short term models are out. So let’s take a look at the week.
Today starts out nice, but as a front passes the winds will start to blow. First in the mountains, starting around noon. Gust can be 60 miles an hour from the north.
It will be quite windy on the Grapevine. Wind will drop over all of us later in the afternoon and evening. Expect 30 mile an hour winds.
Tuesday will start out nice, but as the cold low drops from the north, we will start to feel the changes, with more chilling the air.
You can see it here:
https://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html
Tuesday night, rain starts in SLO around midnight and moves south. We should see rain 3 to 4 am. Rain will continue through late morning, then turn to showers.
Models have struggled run to run on how much moisture support will occur from the south.
For now, we will leave it with the guidance of 1/2 to 1 inch through late morning Wednesday. Mountains and foothills 1 to 2 inches.
Tuesday afternoon through Thursday, or Thanksgiving we will see on and off showers.
A good impulse is looking to roll through Thursday morning. With the showery pattern, rain fall amounts will vary, from 1/2 to 1 1/2 inches of additional rain.
Looks like we will clear up Friday and Saturday. Then another system pushes in for Sunday to Sunday night.
No info on this one other than rain into the area and south to LA.
Now you are ready, let’s see what happens from here. Remember it will be cold with snow 6 to 12 inches in local mountains.
If we get lucky, we might be able to see it from your yards. If you live in Santa Ynez valley you will see the mountains covered with the white stuff.
Updates Tuesday morning bright and early!!!!
11/25/2019 Santa Ynez Weather
This is for Patty and my Freinds in my old stomping grounds.
“Hope you are all well “
The weather for you is very simulate to the forecast except nights will be 10 to 15 degrees cooler.
The later part of next week will be colder with frost warning:
https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-120.042564868927&lat=34.61173601463315#.XdkyRy-IafA
Enjoy the great weather for a few days and hello to all.
11/24/19
Good Sunday morning,
I will make this a quicker one.
Today we have high pressure keeping all clouds out of the area. They are north and south of us.
https://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html
Today some Santa Ana winds to the south, but mild. Temps will be 4 to 5 degrees above normal in the mid 70s.
Tonight after the sun goes down, it cools off a lot. Lows in the upper 30s in the valleys and upper 40s coastal and foothills.
Monday a nice day, but winds come up in the afternoon with a sundowner event in the SB area.
Tuesday starts out great, with a light off shore event, but 4 to 5 degrees cooler.
Tuesday night the cold low drops closer to us. Rain will start up over night.
Wednesday rain and snow levels dropping to 2500 to 3500 feet.
Wednesday night steady rain turns to showers, and cold air sets in. Temps in the santa Ynez valley will drop to below freezing and you could even see snow!!!!
Thursday showers and cold.
Friday more showers possible.
Saturday slight chance of showers.
All in all over the period, 1 to 2 inches coastal, 2 to 3 in the mountains.
Stay tuned for Monday when short term models take over and fine tune the forecast.
Enjoy a great Sunday.
11/23/19
Wow, you are hearing it first here. We are going to get quite the storm system starting Tuesday night.
We will have it all with this one, snow, rain, hail, thunder and lighting, wind and cold air.
Leave early for Holiday travel, I suggest leaving Tuesday if you are going to travel.
Thanksgiving traffic in the air and on the roads is normally really bad, but this year with the rain and snow it will be much worse.
We will start with the good and end with the bad.
Great calm Saturday morning in Santa Barbara.
If you are waking in Santa Ana wind areas, winds were blowing at 30 miles an hour last night, and will continue through Sunday.
We are looking at sunny and warm weather through Monday, then look out …..
It all changes Tuesday with a cold low pressure system dropping down from Alaska, rain begins tuesday night into the weekend.
This is going to be a much larger storm with early predictions of 1 to 3 inches of rain coastal and 3 to 5 inches in the mountains.
Besides the rain, snow levels are going to drop to very low levels. 2500 feet is possible.
When this happens, the Grapevine will likley shut down, creating a traffic night mare Wednesday afternoon. The travel day before Thanksgiving.
This will also affect Santa Barbara and the 101 because traffic will be diverted here.
Here is the title page for the national weather service. This spells it all in a graphic:
Here is how the next week is working out right now:
Today : Sunny warm highs in 70s some wind Ventura and south
Sunday : A repeat of today
Monday: More nice weather less wind south
Tuesday : Day will be dry, transition will begin
Tuesday night: Rain is likely
Wednesday : Rain
Thursday through Saturday, unsettled with some rain at times thunder, lightning, and hail.
Great news for mountains like Mammoth, they can see 4 feet of snow!!! “Yep Linos is loving this.“
These are all early estimates.
The short term models take over Monday and the numbers will be fine tuned.
The one thing I will say is this is not going to be a pre-winter storm.
We will see strong south winds, quite a bit of rain, and cold weather.
“Welcome to the rainy season.“
Enjoy the great weather, you will not see this for a week or so.
11/22/19
Good Friday Morning,
A great weekend of weather ahead, will be a present that we might not see for awhile.
A ridge will be over us through Monday, which will give us warm weather though Monday.
https://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html
Tuesday, a cold low pressure system dips south out of the Barring Sea and Alaska.
This will bring cold temps, rain and snow to the area as soon as Tuesday night.
This is going to be a very cold system with snow levels to 2500 feet.
This also means Thanksgiving travel may be a nightmare.
Snow is possible on the grapevine and flights into SFO could mean lots of delays.
“I am glad I am staying home for this one. “
Long range models are a good indicator of weather in the future, but the short range models will come out Monday.
This will be more accurate on timing and rain or snow totals. Looks like this will be the first good one of the year.
Since we have good weather this weekend, anyone putting up lights should do it this weekend.
….I will be …..
Enjoy the nice weekend weather highs in the 70s.
11/21/19
Good Thursday morning,
It was a chilly Wednesday with some wind and very little rain in our area.
LA and areas to the south did see plenty of rain.
Jim was the first one to mention to me there was no rain.
Jim is now going to be our official weather spotter on the ground.
Nights that we are predicting rain, he will sleep outside to give us first had results in real time.
Jim thanks for your dedication. Is it cold at your Hope Ranch home this morning 👍😂
https://www.cnrfc.noaa.gov/images/countyPrecipMaps/losangeles_24HRprecip.png
Yes, this was a fire drill not the real thing in SB. “ good for me, too busy for rain yet. “
Today the low pressure system that did not bring us rain, is over Nevada where it is raining.
https://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html
This will continue to move east and just give us a chilly day and night.
Highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s coastal and 30s inland.
Thanksgiving is a week away and winter chill is upon us, until Friday.
Then, off shore winds will warm us up into the 70s through Monday.
Next week, computer models are thinking we will have a wet and cold thanksgiving.
A cold low will drop out of Alaska bringing rain and snow levels to 2500 to 3000 feet.
Freeze warning will be likely for valley areas.
Looks like the rain chances will start as soon as Wednesday, we will be updating throughout the weekend.
Of course we will be watching this with Jim’s feet on the ground, eating turkey outdoors 👨🌾🦃
Stay tuned, we have still a nice weekend on tap.
11/20/19
Good Wednesday morning,
Windy and cooler this morning as a weak weather system is rolling down the coast.
Not much rain out there, but you can see some shower activity over the coastal waters:
Take a look at the satellite and you will see the counter clockwise rotation of the cut off low.
https://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html
This will arrive over us some time around 10am. It will not create much rain, maybe 1/10 of an inch. Everything should clear out this afternoon.
The best chance for rain will be in LA area. Some showers will occur there, ¼ to ½ inch.
This will all be over for us by Thursday morning.
Looks like dry weather will prevail through the weekend and early next week. The next chance for rain is Wednesday the day before Thanksgiving.
We will keep an eye on what might happen then.
In the meantime, think of today as a fire drill. This is just a test to remind you that the rain will come and we will be there to help you navigate.
Have a great day, cooler and windy with little rain.
11/19/19
Ones and nines day.
Good Tuesday morning, Monday was another incredibly hot November day.
High of 86 in Santa Barbara. Wow!
Today we will switch it up. Also, interesting weather pattern to our north and south.
If you look south, low pressure is spinning off shore. This is increasing the surf on south facing beaches for you surf lovers.
To the north, low pressure is moving towards us. We are in the middle of these 2 systems . You can see it on the satellite picture link below:
https://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html
The low to the south will move west later today and have no real affect on us, other then the surf.
The low to the north will creep towards us, then cut off from the front, forming a cut off low. This will affect the weather tonight or early Wednesday morning. This system is weak and will most affect areas to the south. Ventura to LA, we will likely see something out of this, but 1/10 to 1/4 inch is the most. Wednesday will likely be relativity dry, with some light rain around sun rise. Then showers at best. The low drifts south and the rain totals will increase to 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Anyway you look at this, it is not a big system.
Everything clears out for Thursday and the sun returns. Looks like dry weather the rest of the week.
Models are not in complete agreement on exact forecast, but the only real difference is weather it will be hotter or cooler. No rain ….
Ok that’s it for the day……
10 to 12 degrees cooler today.
Wednesday even cooler with some resorts seeing snow.
11/18/19
Good Monday morning,
OMG what a Sunday. It was a Summer Delight. I sat outside well into the evening watching football ball and Jack Ryan.
What a great series on Amazon. You have to check it out. I watch 2 episodes then had to go to bed at 9pm.
We broke a record in SB yesterday with a new high for the day of 85 degrees.
One more day of great weather. It will not be 85 in Santa Barbara, but we will still see mid to upper 70s.
To the south and in the valleys, one more really hot day. Highs in the 80s and some 90s.
Tonight, the ridge breaks down and low pressure drops down from Alaska. This will arrive Tuesday morning and start to affect our weather.
Computer models are in better agreement with the forecast. It now looks like rain will arrive early Wednesday morning and run past us late Wednesday into Thursday morning.
Only LA might see rain showers Thursday.
This system will move fairly quick and will not drop a lot of rain. LA will get the most.
With SLO and SB seeing 1/10 to 1/4 of a inch. Ventura 1/4 and LA around 1/2 an inch.
https://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html
Everything should clear out for us Thursday and return things back to normal.
It also looks like nice weather from Thursday through the weekend.
Have a great day.
We will be dancing in the rain on Wednesday. How long has it been, close to 6 months since we have seen rain.
11/17/19
Good Sunday Morning,
Not a lot of changes from Saturday’s forecast. Here is a quick re-cap and El Nino forecast for 2019-2020 season.
Today, hot in Ventura and south to LA with winds 35 to 45 miles an hour. Many areas will see 90s due to off shore winds compressing and heating the air.
As always, high fire danger again.
Even a few records should be broken with the highs of the day. Santa Barbara will be a calm warm 82 degrees.
Monday another great day. Warm, but less wind. Perfect day.
Tuesday, a complete reversal of weather, as a low pressure system drops south.
Tuesday night and Wednesday, the rain chance increases. Low pressure should bring rain chance starting around 4am.
The models really have no agreement with this system. One takes it East, that gives us less rain. The other take it west, and we get more.
Regardless, Santa Barbara and north will be on the dryer side with around 1/10 of an inch at this point. Areas south, the totals climb to ¼ to 1/3 of an inch.
The facts will come clearer on Monday morning.
Stay Turned.
Now El Nino.
It is looking like we will have a warmer winter with average rain fall here in southern California. El Nino is neutral for us, so this means average rain.
Here is the report:
https://www.noaa.gov/media-release/winter-outlook-warmer-than-average-for-many-wetter-in-north
This shows all of the United States.
Enjoy a great Sunday and get outdoors!
11/16/19
Good Saturday morning,
The light of day has arrived and it will be a nice weekend in SB, with lots of Action in the forecast next week.
Lets start with the weekend.
High pressure has built in and off shore flow will warm us up through Monday.
Santa Ana winds will blow to the south, bringing high fire danger back and hot temps. Record highs are likely Sunday in LA.
For Santa Barbara, we Just get warm weather with no wind.
Highs in the low 80s for the next 3 days. To the south, upper 80s and 90s is likely from the winds compressing.
Winds will be 30 to 50 miles an hour in the hills, Sunday will be the warmest and windiest day.
Monday is transition day.
High pressure moves out and onshore flow comes back. To the North, a cold storm system over the gulf of Alaska will work it’s way south.
This has very cold air with it, but is moisture starved until it reaches Point conception, then it meets the marine layer and ocean.
This will increase the chance of rain for Gaviota and south into LA. We are near the start of this, but will likely be affected.
Rain should start up overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. Rain totals are .25 to .75 in the LA area, with a sharp contrast of .01 to .05 north of point conception.
This is also very cold, so areas to the south can see some thunder storms. We are in the middle with rainfall somewhere in the middle.
Thursday, we clear up and a warming trend moves in for the weekend.
Also very interesting is south in Mexico. Tropical storm Raymond is going to sweep through Cabo as a tropical depression bringing rain.
You can see the storm in the gulf of Alaska and below Cabo on the satellite.
https://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html
Here is the track of Raymond the next 5 days.
https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/graphics_ep5.shtml?start#contents
Our weather is starting to get interesting again. I am sure we will have lots of Newbe’s wanting to join us.
Tomorrow, I will look at El Nino updates.
Have a great weekend, it will be fantastic in SB and Santa Ynez.
Enjoy!
Just for the record, this is part of what I read and put it into my words, a lot of times with Jack’s spelling.
‘Tuesday will be the transition day as the air mass switches to
onshore flow ahead of a developing cold trough of low pressure.
A shortwave trough over the western Pacific Ocean this morning
will lift out into the Gulf of Alaska on Sunday night, then dig
south into the region through Tuesday. The trough will bring much
colder aloft in with the trough. While lacking in moisture, the
trough will make up for in colder air aloft. The trough will
likely carve out near Point Conception late Tuesday night and
pickup some Pacific maritime moisture. A cool and showery weather
pattern will develop between late Tuesday and Wednesday and
continue into Thursday and early Friday.
With 500 mb temperatures approaching -25 degrees Celsius,
isolated thunderstorms cannot be ruled out with the system. Brief
heavy downpours are possible with this system. ECMWF and GFS
ensembles would place storm total QPF values from near 0.1 to 0.5
inch north of Point Conception to near 0.25 to 0.75 inch south of
Point Conception. Rainfall totals with this trough will vary
widely and there is a wide spread of values in the ensemble
solutions. While confidence is low in the actual rainfall amounts
and rainfall rates, there is an outside chance that rainfall rates
could reach to near the thresholds set by USGS for debris flows
from the recent burn areas in southern California. Residents
living near the recently burned area in southern California should
monitor the latest forecasts.”
11/15/19
Good Friday morning,
We are midway through November. The holidays are right around the corner, and so is the rain.
We will start with the rain, because it has been so long since we have seen any. Models are increasing the rain possibility and bringing it in sooner.
Tuesday night into Wednesday is now the target time. This will be a light rain event and by the end of the weekend we will have a better grasp on the rain timing and totals.
In the meantime, low pressure is dropping south and we will have a cool day. The system will stall west of point conception, then continue to the Baja Saturday.
Temps will be on the rise Saturday through Monday as offshore flow and some Santa Ana wind knock on the door. Everyone will see low 80s for Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Here is how it looks from the sky
https://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html
Looking to the south in Mexico, oddly there are still 2 tropical systems out in the pacific. This is odd for this time of the year, these however will only affect ship traffic.
That’s the weather… looking more like rain next week starting Tuesday night.
Enjoy the hot summer like weekend, these are going to be few and far between in the future.
Jack Martin
11/14/19
Good Thursday morning,
Low pressure is moving into California today. This is bringing us cooler temps and fog.
Mid level clouds will also be part of the day.
https://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html
As the troft digs south later in the day, the central coast could even see some drizzle and some light rain.
Here in our area, cooler temps and maybe a more damp Friday is more likely, but no rain.
Friday, the system moves out of our area and high pressure builds back in. We will heat up for the weekend and into Monday.
Temps might even be near a record high for Sunday with most areas into the 80s.
Good weather will prevail through Tuesday. Mid week Wednesday and Thursday, we are watching the next low pressure system.
Models are indicating this might create our first light rain event for the season. This will need to be watched in the upcoming days.
So stay tuned!
In the mean time, we go from cooler to hotter to cooler and a chance of rain mid week next.
A great weekend is ahead, enjoy it. I think we will have a lot less nice weekends in our future.
11/13/19
Good Wednesday morning,
Mid way through another week, with our weather changing slightly from off shore to on shore again.
The next few days will be cooler once again with some night and morning clouds. It will also be cooler the next few days with highs only in the low 70s.
“Just perfect weather in my book.“
Our back and forth pattern will continue to change from on shore to off shore.
Friday and into the weekend, we are looking at another warm up with highs in the low 80s for the weekend.
Next week starts out typical as we have seen the last 4 weeks or so, with on and off shore changes…..UNTIL Thursday.
The extended forecast is showing a possibility for rain next Thursday.
Of course this is still a long ways off, but it is that time of the year where we should see rain start to influence our weather.
Stay Tuned 😄
Take a look at the satellite from the sky, it appears some Action is out there, just not over us “YET” :
https://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html
11/11/19
Lots of 1’s in the date today and happy Veteran’s Day.
Sunday was quite a bit cooler than Saturday thanks to onshore flow returning.
Now we will do a slight switch back to off shore and a slight warm up.
All week long will play out with slightly warmer days followed by slightly cooler as high and low pressure changes position.
Bottom line the entire week will be in the low to mid 70s with lots of sun.
Damp morning Wednesday and Thursday, with off shore and dryer the other days.
Looks like next weekend is warming up again.
Rain? Well, there is none in sight. This pattern is looking to remain the same for the next 2 weeks.
https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-119.69261169433594&lat=34.42616890436072#.XcldJS-IafA
Enjoy another perfect week.
11/9/19
Good Saturday morning,
What a way to start a Saturday in November 9, 2019. The light of day has arrived and the sun will be heating us up for a fantastic summer time weekend.
Today we will have a moderate off shore flow that will kick temps for all into the low to upper 80s.
Offshore winds will affect areas to the south in all Santa Ana wind prone areas, but they should be moderate with winds 10 to 20 miles an hour and gusts to 30 miles an hour.
No worries for power shut offs, but Mark and Loris’ golf ball may drift some 😄.
In Santa Barbara and all the way to SLO, just expect great weather with no wind and lots of temps to brag about.
As the East coast is feeling a winter blast with temps in the teens, we will be in the mid 80s.
Sunday will also be another great day, off shore will weaken and temps drop a few degrees, but still 10 plus degrees above normal.
Next week is also looking dry and warm through mid week. Wednesday into the end of the week, we will have on shore flow with temps cooling off and fog returning.
All in all, amazing weather for November….
Enjoy the outdoors this weekend, it will be a treat with not too many of these in the future as winter weather approaches.
It is funny to call it winter in Southern California, most think of winter as cold and snow.
Not here.
Winter weather is 40s , 50s and 60s.
Enjoy …….a great weekend.
11/8/19
Good Friday morning,
The weekend is upon us, and for some a 3 day weekend. Thanks to one of the holidays that government celebrates and we celebrate at work . .
Bottom line, it is going to be a great 2 or 3 day weekend for all. Your best destination is to stay home, because it is not better anywhere than here this weekend.
Highs in the low 80s and cool nights in the 50s.
Aa a matter of fact, the next 7 days are as good as we can get.
Get up early with me, and get outdoors. The day light ends too early these days.
Have a great weekend.

Good Thursday morning,
As mentioned earlier in the week, there is no excitement in the weather front.
Only weather to brag about if you have friends and family in other parts of the country, where cold is taking over.
If anyone was to take a vacation for the next week, I do not think there is a better place to do it then Santa Barbara Or Santa Ynez wine country.
Today will be a cooler day with some fog and highs around 70.
Friday high pressure builds in and we warm up through the weekend. Highs will be in the 80s for most part.
Next week, we bounce back and forth with low pressure then high pressure, but everyone will have great weather …
70s and 80s with no rain in sight at this point ….
Ok, you are allowed to call family and friends to brag about our great weather.
This is the reason we pay high taxes, and cost of living to remain here ….
Enjoy, is this global warming also 🤔 we will take this part … 😊
11/5/19
Good Tuesday morning,
Voting day for some….. the weather will not keep you from going to vote.
We will have typical fall weather all week long. Cool nights after the sun goes down and warm days as the sun warms us up.
No real excitement unless you live where it is typically cold this time of year.
We are spoiled with highs in the 70s and 80s during the day. And 30s and 40s at night.
Yes, sweat shirts will be needed in the morning.
Looks like the weekend will warm us up a few degrees as some light off shore winds will warm us up.
Other then great weather, the getting dark a little after 5pm is going to take some adjustment. Another 46 days of losing light will reverse.
Have a great week, still no rain in sight.
11/3/19
Good Sunday morning,
As you are waking up this morning, the light of day is coming earlier. If your clocks automatically resets to standard time.
If your clocks do not do this, it might be 1 hour earlier than you think.
Regarding the weather, there really is not much to talk about in our forecast area.
We will settle into good seasonable weather for the next week.
Night and morning clouds to start the day, but clear to sunny skies by mid morning.
Temps all week will be around normal with no Santa Ana events in the picture.
The only storm that passed last night was at USC, where the Ducks blew them out of the stadium! 😊
Go Ducks and have a great week.
