11/29/16 This Weeks Forecast
Good Tuesday morning,
After 2 days of wind, the wind for Santa Barbara is over for now. Winds will now move south as a weak Santa Anna wind event arrives this morning. Ventura and southward areas will experience 40 mile an hour winds today and hit a miss for the rest of the week.
Chilly nights and cool days are expected for all. Coastal areas will have highs in the 60s all week with lows in the upper 40s. Inland areas will also have highs in the 60s, but lows will drop into the 30s each night.
As for rain, well that’s out for this week……
If you look out there when the sun comes up you will find some high clouds streaming along the jet stream. These should not last for too long then we will have sunny skies.

Expect good fall-winter weather for this time of year. Just a few more days of November and then the holiday month rolls into high gear.
Lots of Christmas parties to come. Enjoy the cooler weather. You will need a jacket to start all days…
We will check in later in a quiet weather week

11/21/16 Good Monday Morning
Good Monday morning,
It sure is pretty after the rain. Crystal clear thanks to the rain and a nice breeze. The rain was a little disappointing. It sure was nice to hear the rain. I sat on my covered deck and listen to it while watching TV. The sad part was we only got ½ an inch along the coast, the 154 got an inch.
I wanted more… Oh well we will keep hoping for more. There is lots of rainy season ahead, however no rain for us for a week.
Looks like we will have a few days of warming weather with some cooling Wednesday, then a nice thanksgiving day here…
Friday into the weekend, some cooling, but no rain…
Have a great week
Jack
11/17/16 Good Thursday Morning
Looks like all the weather models are accurately predicting our weather for the week.
The weak system passed to the north of our area, bringing us wind yesterday in the afternoon and overnight. That kept the temps a little warmer for us along the coast. The valleys were not as cold, but did drop into the low 40s.
Winds this morning are shifting to the northeast, bringing us a Santa Anna event. This will shift winds into the Ventura south locations. For us we will see a nice warm up for the next few days. Friday should be the warmest day of the week. Valleys are still going to be cold tonight getting into the lower 30s.
All is still on track for the weekend; it looks like Saturday the next system rolls in from the north. Rain will drop into the SLO area Saturday and Saturday night. Our rain chances actually begin overnight Saturday into Sunday.
This is the point of separation between the weather models. They seem to differ on when and how much rain we will get. At this point the best chance is for overnight Sunday into Monday with around a 1/3 of an inch in coastal areas and 1/2 to an inch in the mountains.
The difference is the models do not agree on the approach of the low. One says it will cut off and create more rain. The other does not.
So we will stay with the safer solution for now. Rain chances start over night Saturday, but more likely Sunday night.
Enjoy the warmer days, through Friday. The models will agree by Saturday.

11/16/16 Chilly Out There
Yes, fall/ winter have arrived. I don’t know about you, but I woke up last night to a chill.
I needed that extra blanket. We have been programmed for the heat for so long now; our bodies are not used to the cooler temps. Also if you live in Santa Ynez and Ojai, it is really going to dip down into the 30’s at night for the next few days. Yes, frost in the mornings.

Today we have a weak front that is approaching us. It will fall apart as it gets to point conception, resulting in wind only. Northwest winds will pick up and blow this afternoon and tonight.

Thursday winds will switch to northeast and we will warm up Thursday and Friday.
Saturday is another transition day with a low approaching. Rain chances are likely Sunday into Monday. It is looking like we will see 1/4 to 1/2 inch out of this next system.

Ok more to come, stay warm … Chilly nights and cooler days
OMG thanksgiving is 8 days away and Christmas is right around the corner. My favorite day is December 22nd, because from that day forward each day gets a little longer.
11/15/16 Weather Changes
Well , did you miss me ?
Yes, I went away for a few days to Cabo San Lucas and I saw no reason to report sunny and hot.
Just taking a look outside, you can see the difference. It is much cooler and damp this morning. It was quite foggy this morning, so no super moon in view.
We have a cold front, which is creating rain to the north. Rain might get as low as SLO, although no rain for us. All we will see is just wind on Wednesday after the front goes through.
Looks like windy northwest winds Wednesday afternoon and night.
On Thursday we have high pressure building back in for 3 days which will bring warmer days again.
Good news in the long range forecast. It looks like we will see rain between Sunday night and Tuesday. The timing is not there yet, but all the models are supporting rain.
How much? Well not sure on that either.
Stay tuned, back to light jacket and sweatshirt weather.
Enjoy
