Tuesday November 17th
Good Morning!
Not as cold as it has been, but you can tell the seasons are changing. With shorter days and colder nights, winter is right around the corner.
The good news is winter weather will hold off for at least this week. It looks like dry weather into early next week.

It is going to warm up nicely during the day, getting us into the 70s and even close to 80 at times. This warm up is thanks to a Santa Anna wind event.
Winds will pick up today for our friends to the south of us. We will welcome some relief from the winds the past few days.

Stuff was blowing everywhere.
Ok get out there and enjoy the week, as always they fly by too fast. Can you say thanksgiving and Christmas. They will be here before you know it.
11/10/15 Good Tuesday Morning
Good Tuesday morning,
Well not so good if you wanted rain. I said it would be 1/4 inch or less…Well it was much less!!!
SLO did much better with some areas getting 1/2 an inch of rain. It just never really made it to us. North to south systems are not great rain makers for us, because of the way our mountain face.
We need a nice cut-off low to drop in and spin counterclockwise. Then we will get a real system. This will come in time, but not this week.
At least the Nor Cal mountains have been getting some good snows. That’s at least a start for ski season and snow pack.
For us the rest of the week is dry. Cold temps at night warming during the day in low 70s and maybe even around 80 on Saturday, thanks to a mild Santa Anna wind event.
Sunday is looking like a low is going to drop and bring back a chance for rain Sunday night.
Ok just a quick report today.
Have a great day…
11/9/15 Rain Forecast
Good Monday morning,
When you wake to a north wind you know the front has died out as it approached us. Rain only made it as far south as SLO.
If you look at the satellite picture you will see the front edge moving through us
Don’t be disappointed, we will still see rain. It is just going to come later in the day. Like tonight or around sunset. This will come in showers from the cold air behind the front. We should see 1/10 to 1/3 of an inch. Rain will be spotty with on and off showers with the cold air.
Tuesday through Thursday will be cooler with an onshore flow.
Friday into the weekend we will warm up with off shore flow. Not a crazy hot, but should make a nice weekend.
Have a great week
11/3/15 Chilly Weather
Good cold Tuesday morning,
Yes it is quite chilly out there; 50s in SB and 40s in the valleys. You will need a jacket to start the day. A matter of fact cool day today, overall.
Take a look at the rain totals
http://www.cnrfc.noaa.gov/precipMaps.php?group=sv&img=3
Yes, we were unfortunately robbed in Santa Barbara and south of the area. The good news is there were some reasonable total from the Santa Ynez Valley and north. Cachuma got .41in and some areas further north got almost an inch.
The problem for us is this was a northwesterly storm system. Kind of opposite results from a southerly rotation system. When winds come from the south east it squeezes out all the rain over our side of the mountains, well the opposite occurred for us yesterday. I knew we were in trouble when the northwest winds came up around 1 pm.
The wind however did not let us down. It blew hard last night, and it was a cold wind….Still blowing out there right now with 15 mile an hour winds from the northwest.
We still have a slight chance of showers out there most of the day. This is thanks to the cold air overhead. You will see the white puffy cloud floating around and over some mountain. If it does rain, it will be brief and light.
Starting Wednesday into the rest of the week we will see a slight warm up, but temps still remaining a few degrees below normal for this time of year.
Next week there is a hint of a system coming down from the north for Monday, but it is still way too far out to make a call on..

Ok enjoy the day, pack a jacket or sweatshirt. It is chilly and windy out there
11/2/15 Monday Rain
Good Monday Morning,
Rain is the word of the day. This system is a few hours behind schedule, but who is not at times.
It’s currently raining in Monterey and rain will arrive here around 10 AM. So everyone will have a few hours of day light to prepare.
Timing wise, classic Halloween storm, it seems every year we get a system right around Halloween. This will bring us around 1/4 to 1/3 of an inch of rain.
It will only be a 4 to 6 hours period of steady light rain. Then if you look at the satellite picture you will see the white puffy clouds behind the front. That will be the showers, and cold air coming in.
Cold it will be for some, 40s tonight in the valleys and 50s along the coast.
Then the wind starts. We will have a strong wind event tonight. From the northwest – west (put those umbrellas down)
Tuesday still has a chance of showers over the mountains, but for the most part it will be over.
The cold air will squeeze anything out of those clouds it can.
Wednesday, back to warmer weather and off shore flow for the rest of the week.
Well that’s it for now.
Enjoy our little rain… It is always nice to see it fall out of our skies…

(Always happy to break this guy out)
