May 2021

Good Friday morning,

The Holiday weekend is here, and the return to normalcy after the Covid year.

The weather overall is going to be nice on the west coast.

https://zoom.earth/#view=39.4,-84.8,4z/date=2021-05-28,06:40,-7

The only storminess will be on the roadways, with the return to traveler and traffic.

I am certainly happy to stay home and watch the traffic from affar. For our weather, Santa Barbara will be in the lower 70s, with some fog and wind through the weekend.

The valleys will be in the low 80’s through the weekend. For you, lake goers Saturday will be in the low 80s, but warming up into the upper 80s Sunday.

Next week we start June and we will see a warming trend in the inland areas. Mid week will see some triple digits.

Enjoy the long weekend, get on the road early, or your holiday will start off with traffic.

Have a great holiday!

Good Wednesday morning,

The only excitement in the sky was the eclipse at 4am. If you missed it, Adam and I have you covered.

LunarEclipse052621

As far as the weather goes. There is not a lot of changes for the next week.

Highs in the low 70s with lows in the mid 50s and sunshine, the rest of the week.

Good Wednesday morning,

Sunshine and wind is the forecast. The good news with wind, it blows the fog off shore. Last night the winds were from Refugio to Gaviota. SB really did not get much.

This condition is making for a clear morning with warmer temps today. Highs today will be in the upper 70s.

Tonight the sundowner winds are back and will likely stick around for the next 2 nights as low pressure to the north pushes closer.

This will give us a pressure change and wind.

Thursday will start off clear again, but low pressure will begin to cool the air.

Friday and Saturday continued cooling especially in the valleys. Most coastal areas will stay in the low 70s, with valleys around the same.

Sunday, we begin to move the low east and a gradual warming trend will develop.

Enjoy the sun!

What a great start to Tuesday. It is nice to see Sunshine to start the day.

ClearSky51821

It has been awhile.

High pressure is building in and we are expecting a sundowner wind event tonight.

Winds will start up this afternoon and tonight pick up with 30 to 50 mile an hour winds in the mountains.

Coastal 15 to 35 miles an hour at my house.

The good news to the wind will be the sunny skies in the mornings. The sun should start each day through Thursday. Friday, another low pressure system rolls in and brings back the fog for the weekend.

Enjoy the sunshine!

Good Thursday morning,

A special shout out to Dan “Happy Birthday #60” welcome to the club it is not that bad …”

May gray is in full swing, and as you walk outside you will find all the streets wet.

It does look like we will be damp and wet all weekend as low pressure will create some drizzle.

National Weather Service

Foothills will most likely see the dampest weather. Highs will only be in the lower 60s though the period.

The weekend will be cool and damp. No beach weather this weekend. Maybe spring house cleaning is best this week.

Next week we do rebound some, but still highs only in the upper 60s to low 70s.

If you want warmth, you need to travel to Palm Springs with 100 degrees today cooling to 85 by Sunday.

National Weather Service

Maybe it should be a Vegas weekend, Just jump on a Southwest flight out of SB and enjoy the 90s.

Have a great day!

Good Tuesday morning,

High pressure to the East and North winds off the coast, spells a counterclockwise rotation over Catalina. Known as an Eddy or depending how you spell it Eddie 😂, “What the heck I had A cousin named Eddie”.

So , I named it after him …..

Ok I guess I was not the first one to see this from the sky, but the first one that name it Eddie 😩

Fog is at 1700 feet today, so we will break out of the fog sooner today.

For the weather this week, it is on and off deeper marine layers along the coast all week.

The next 2 days the marine layer thins, then Thursday it comes back stronger.

Temps along the coast will still be around normal, but inland temps will climb the next few days.

All in all, not a lot of excitement in the weather, hopefully we all get a chuckle out of Jacks spelling and grammar. Yes I was a solid C all my life in English class and I am almost proud of it 🤔

I was much better in Math  👍🏼

Have a great day!

Good foggy morning,

I hope everyone had a great Mothers day. It sure was nice to have family around.

Today it is just damp and foggy out there with a deep marine layer:

There is a rotating Eddie to the south that is blanking the coast with clouds.

Today, do not expect clearing along the coast, and most valleys will see fog into the afternoon.

Tuesday, high pressure builds in off to the East, which will warm up the valleys, but coastal areas will see fog all week.

Bottom line, we will have May Gray all week along the coast. Valleys should see 80s in most locations.

Have a good week!

Good morning daylight, no sunshine today,

Onshore flow is deepening the marine layer this morning. Fog levels are at 2200 feet with some valleys seeing fog to start the day.

Today the fog will break in the valleys late this morning, but along the coast it will stick around into the later afternoon. Expect a cooler day in the lower 70s.

Friday more of the same fog for all and slow clearing.

Friday night looks like we will see some pressure gradency move in, creating sundowner wind for areas like Santa Barbara.

Saturday the sundowner winds should push the clouds off shore in SB, other coastal areas will still see fog.

Saturday night, another sundowner event, the benefit is less fog in the morning.

Sunday, “Mother’s day” we should see a nice day with seasonable temps. In SB around 75, valleys upper 70s.

Monday, we will warm and by Tuesday and Wednesday will bring temps back up into the 80s.

Enjoy the fog!

05/04/2021

Good Tuesday morning,
High pressure has created an Eddie circulation forming off shore, which is pushing the fog to the north. This is beginning to blanket the coastal areas:

With the fog, it will keep the coast cooler, and the valleys warmer. Coastal areas all week, will remain in the 70s, with clearing in the afternoons Tuesday and Wednesday.

Inland 80s and some 90s through Wednesday.

Thursday, low pressure takes over and cools the valleys. Coastal areas might see fog hang in longer as we approach the weekend.

Yes, it is May and May-gray along the coast is typical. Valleys, however will now begin to heat up as we get into the summer months.

The weekend looks to be fair with night and morning low clouds. Hopefully, Mother’s Day will be sunny.

It will be nice to celebrate it with family once again.

Enjoy!
