June 2021

06/30/2021

Good Wednesday morning,

Cooler weather and less humidity ahead. Yesterday it felt like the East Coast with the humid air. This all changes today, the last day of the June.

Today the marine layer is at 1500 feet and a cooler day is with us on the coast.

In the low 70s with only a 10 degree swing for the low of 62.

In the Valleys, it will be cooler with highs of 85 and lows in the 60s.

This trend will be part of the forecast for the next week with not a lot of changes.

70s along the coast and upper 80s in the valleys. This will provide nice weather to start the new month. The 4th of July, Sunday should be clear by the time fireworks arrive.

The Pacific northwest is cooling down and the hurricane in Cabo moved east of them, so just a little rain.

Have a great day!

Good Tuesday morning,

Just perfect weather in Southern California, especially along the coast.

Highs will remain in the lower 70s for the next 7 days, with minimal fog.

Upper 80s in the valleys.

The monsoonal moisture threat is now out of our forecast, as dryer air moves in Wednesday.

The pacific northwest is still extremely Hot, and the Baja of Mexico is about to feel tropical storm Enrique.

Good Monday morning,

What a fantastic weekend and especially Sunday at the beach.

I spent most of the day there. It was a perfect 77 degrees, sunny and a light breeze.

Compared to the heat wave in other areas, Seattle had a high of 107 and just as hot today. Is that global warming 🤔. But Perfect in SB.

https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-119.70359802246091&lat=34.430699847453454#.YNnOiS1HafA

Today, it will be hot everywhere except right along the coast with upper 70s again.

Inland valleys upper 90s. Seattle 110 and don’t forget Cabo with hurricane Enrique on there heels.

https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/graphics_ep5.shtml?start#contents

Tuesday, the heat continues in the valleys. Fog back to coastal SB, but quick clearing. Monsoonal moisture arrives with rain chances increasing in the interior each day. Most likely Wednesday and Thursday. As far north as eastern Santa Barbara county. We will see if any of the shower pop over the local mountains.

Here is how it looks around the world. Huge dome of high pressure over the western US:

https://zoom.earth/#view=32.5,-97.7,4z/date=2021-06-28,06:20,-7

The coastal areas will continue with 70s all week and inland 90s.

4th of July looks to be nice with some fog in the morning, then clearing later.

It will be great to see the fireworks back in SB.

Have a great day!

Good Friday morning,

Clear beautiful skies this early morning and look at the Moon set over the Ocean.

Moon06252021

For our weather, it just gets better, clear skies and warmer weather through most of next week.

Today high pressure is building in, this will bring warmer weather and some sundowner winds tonight.

Today mid 70s in Santa Barbara and mid 80s in Santa Ynez.

Tonight, we will have some sundowner winds tonight from the northwest 10 to 15 miles an hour.

Saturday, the heat is on…..Just give a plus 10 to all temps of today.

SB mid-80s, Valleys mid-90s.

Winds all shift to the Northeast, bringing fire danger for the next week.

As we progress into the new week, only warm temps, and summer like weather.

By mid-week we will even see some monsoonal moisture moving in.

Some eastern mountains and deserts might even see a chance for rain.

We will see how that progresses, but in the meantime.

Enjoy the great summer weather.

Good Wednesday morning,

I hope everyone is enjoying the longer days. For me, 5:43 am the daylight has arrived. Night time, I am waiting for the sunset.

The winds last night cleared out the fog, but it is trying to come back in now.

https://zoom.earth/#view=32,-119.2,5z/date=2021-06-23,05:20,-7

Today, there is some fog out there. The most appears to be from Lompoc to Santa Ynez, we will see what happens in the next hour for SB.

Today, where fog does form, it will clear by noon. Overall, it will be a cooler day for all. Coastal to the valleys, highs in the low 70s SB.

Then upper 70s in the valleys. Tonight, the fog returns to most areas, but will burn off by noon Thursday.

Thursday, we do start the warm up withy northeast winds kicking in. High pressure will be building in and each day into the weekend will warm up.

By Saturday, the valleys will really feel the warmup with 90s for all, coastal will warm into the low 80s.

The warmth continues into the new work week through at least Tuesday. Expect some areas to hit the century mark.

Look at the ocean temps ticking upward, 64 degrees up, 3 degrees in a week.

Good Thursday morning,

So much to talk about today, but I have to share the home page of the National weather service Oxnard with the Bull dog with ice around it

https://www.weather.gov/lox

The heat wave is on for all areas, except the coastal areas of Santa Barbara.

The ocean air conditioner is working, with fog flowing into the Las Positas this morning.

Fog106172021
Fog206172021

This is thanks to a coastal Eddy that has formed over Santa Barbara. Our heat wave will be restricted to a high of 78 degrees.

Just over the mountains, 20 miles away. A completely different story with highs today of 102 degrees.

A matter of fact, all the inland valleys will continue to have the excessive heat warning. All areas will see 100+ temps.

There will also be some sub-tropical clouds over the mountains, giving us the subtropical feel.

The clouds will be quite high, so do not expect any moisture to hit the ground, just a pretty skyline.

As the week moves into Friday, fog returns to the coast and inland areas stay hot though Saturday, with cooling arriving for all Sunday.

Father’s day will be nice everywhere, mid 70s along the Coast and Mid 80s in the Valleys.

The cooling trend continues into next week with all areas returning to normal temps.

Hang in there if you live in the valleys. If it gets too hot, come to the beach where it will be 30 degrees cooler.

Have a Great day, stay cool.

“Now who loves the Fog”

Summer has arrived, and you can see the threat of Hurricanes back in the southern Pacific.

https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/gtwo.php?basin=epac&fdays=5

Summer soloists 4 days away on Monday the 21st.

06/16/2021

Good Wednesday morning,

Another hot day for most, as high pressure is driving the heat.

Starting the day, it feels tropical with high clouds and warmer early morning temps.

The high pressure is pulling up the tropical moisture and clouds from the south.

https://zoom.earth/#view=39.4,-97.8,4z/date=2021-06-16,05:50,-7

It’s made for a great sunset, and I am sure a great sunrise, but I can’t see the sunrises.

Highs today will be in the mid 80s to upper 80s along the coast, and over 100 in all valleys. This trend will continue through Friday in the valleys, but coastal areas should begin to cool Thursday.

For the weekend, cooling for the coastal areas, bringing us back into the nice mid 70s.

Valleys will be cool, but still in the mid to upper 80s.

Have a great day,

Be thankful we live near the AC of the ocean, 61 degrees today 😊

Good Tuesday morning,

Besides the heat for today. It is a great day that vaccinated people get to go mask less and no social distancing is needed any longer.

In addition, 10 vaccinated people will win a million dollars. It is a good day that we finally get to remember everyone’s faces.

Regarding the heat. Today, it will be hot everywhere with all areas 10 to 20 degrees above normal.

90s along the coast and triple digits everywhere else.

https://zoom.earth

Tonight, some more sundowner winds. mainly west of SB, Refugio beach and west.

Wednesday, more of the same, only coastal areas will see slight cooling, still really hot.

The rest of the week will be hot. Friday will be the last really hot day.

Cooling along the coast will start on Saturday with onshore flow.

Stay hydrated, it is going to get hot early.

Good sunny Wednesday morning,

Just a perfect start to the day with some high clouds and lots of sunshine.

Up and down California pretty much the same.

https://zoom.earth

The only factor to the weather will be some wind. We will feel north and northwest winds though the next 2 days.

Last night the winds also came up, which sent low clouds away. That’s the good behind the winds.

Today just a nice all around day. Sunny warm mid 70s with lows in the upper 50s.

Tonight sundowner winds return, with a little more steam, expect 30 miles and hour in areas.

Thursday. high pressure builds in, and inland areas will rise into the upper 70s, with mid 70s along the south coast.

Friday and into the weekend, continued nice weather for all.

Starting Sunday, it looks like a heat wave will start through mid-week. Inland areas will see 90s and 100 degrees.

Don’t worry, coastal areas will only climb into the low 80s.

Just great June weather ahead.

You deserve it.

Good Tuesday morning,

What a treat we have for Santa Barbara this morning. It is called blue skies.

It has been quite some time since we have seen blue skies to start the day.

This is thanks to a mild sundowner wind last night, pumping the marine layer off the Santa Barbara coast.

Most other areas are starting with the normal fog for June.

https://zoom.earth

The low-pressure system that brought us clouds and cool temps yesterday is now over Nevada.

High Pressure is building in, and this will begin to produce sundowner winds for each of the next 3 nights. Tonight, winds should stay Refugio to Gaviota.

On Wednesday and Thursday, northwest winds will affect Santa Barbara with 40 to 50 mile an hour winds in the mountains. The good from the winds is clear skies in the mornings.

Temps will also rebound as Santa Barbara should see 3 to 7 degrees of warming from the chill of Monday.

Inland valleys will also start to feel the rise in temps Wednesday. Overall we are looking at a warm up for the weekend, and back to hot weather into the first part of next week.

If you are in SB, enjoy the Blue skies. Each day forward everyone will see sunshine earlier in the day, as the week goes on.

Enjoy!

Good Friday morning,

This shorter work week for some has rolled by quickly, due to the holiday.

No, Jack has not been away. It’s just that time of year with very little change to the pattern, so I would sound like a broken record.

(There I go dating myself again.)

There are some changes for the weekend, and a update the weekend weather is in order. As we are all aware, it is June. As always, the story is always how thick will the fog be along the coast. All week it has been cool in the 60s with little clearing, and hot just over the Pass. That is going to change starting Saturday in the inland empire. We have a low-pressure system moving towards us on Saturday which will cool the valleys down dramatically. Coastal areas, just the same old tune for June….fog and gray.

https://zoom.earth/#view=37,-105.6,4.81z/date=2021-06-04,05:30,-7

Today, the valleys will see there last day of hotter temps. Santa Ynez in the low 80s and Paso in the 90s. Santa Barbara same old 60s with fog.

Saturday all inland areas will cool 10 to 15 degrees, thanks to the low-pressure system.

Coastal, same old 60s with fog, with lows only 10 degrees cooler.

Sunday, another cool day for all, as the low-pressure system sits over us.

Sunday night, the marine layer might even give foothills and valleys some drizzle.

Next week, I do have some good news, as high pressure and offshore will build in by mid week.

This will raise temps back into the 80s, and Santa Barbara will see sunshine again by mid week.

That will be a nice treat, because it is just too cold for my joints 😩

I hope everyone has a great weekend. Remember fog is good, because it keeps us damp in our drought ridden area. If you want 90s, Palm Spring is your place this weekend!

Just pack a sweatshirt and you will be good.

Enjoy the cool weather. September and October, we will wish we had fog.

Have a great weekend!

Good morning and welcome June 1st 2021,

This week is all about June Gloom along the coast. The further East you go, the hotter it gets.

If you are waking up along the coast, you would never know that we are starting our first heat wave of the summer.

High pressure is building in, and the warmth is on for the inland empire. Highs in the triple digits for all in those areas. As you move west, coastal valleys like santa Ynez will still see some fog to start the day, but the warmth will be in the lower 80s.

Along the beaches, there will not be much change from night time lows and day time highs. Highs will only be in the upper 60s with around 10 degrees less at night. The fog will hang around all week to give us little sunshine.

Welcome to June!!!.

Looking down from the sky, you can see the first tropical storm in the pacific off Mexico. This is really harmless, moving away from land. In Texas, look at the spring fun that Pete is having in Houston. Those red colors do not mean sunshine.

https://zoom.earth

Back to us.

High pressure through most of the week will keep inland areas well above normal.

Coastal, enjoy the fog.

As we get into Friday, everyone will see a cool down.

Along the coast we will likely see no sunshine at all into the weekend.

You will need to head to Palm Springs to find nice 90s.

I hope everyone had a nice holiday weekend, now it is back to work.

Have a great week.
