Good Friday morning,
As the weekend approaches so does another Santa Ana with Northeast winds event. This is way better than the Nor’easter on the East coast that is going to bring cold and snow from Phila to Maine this weekend.
I think it is an easy call to say 70 degrees on California to 20 degrees and snow on the East coast. I am so glad I went west. I moved west 40 years ago.
Great weather for the next week, with flip-flopping on and offshore winds. This will keep us in the low 70s to the mid-60s with no rain in the forecast.
Today, windy south, great here and high of 70.
Tonight winds calm south then a cool night.
Saturday is still a great day, with calm winds high in the upper 60s.
Sunday is another nice day, with some mid-level clouds.
Monday and Tuesday onshore flow with cooler mid-60s and some fog.
Wednesday and Thursday are warmer and another Santa Ana wind event.
Do I sound like a skipping record, well that how it is?
Enjoy a great weekend.
There are around 60 million people on the East coast that would like to trade places with you this weekend.
Phone a friend on the East coast and rub it in

Good Thursday morning,
Here we go, with the last few days in January and really no rain this month to speak of.
Today we will see our usual sunny warm day with highs in the low 70s.
Santa Ana conditions will persist through Friday with warm temps and sunshine. The national weather service is calling today a Chambers of Commerce Day; Meaning you will be proud to live in SOCAL. Call your friends in the snow.

It will cool some on the weekend, but still, be sunny.
Next week looks have a weak system roll through Monday and Tuesday, but no rain.
Wednesday it now looks like another round of Santa Ana winds and warming.
Sadly, it looks like another week of dry weather through the first week in February.
Enjoy the sunshine, but we need rain. Let’s hope for the week of February 6th.
Until then, we must enjoy the sunny warm 70s. It is a rough life here.

Good Tuesday morning,
It will be cooler today with highs in the mid-60s. This is thanks to the return of onshore flow and some pockets of fog in areas today.
The onshore flow will be short-lived because another Santa Ana wind event will start up again tonight. Offshore winds will blow through mid-day Wednesday and keep us all warm through Thursday. Highs in the low to mid-70s.
Friday and Saturday a return to onshore and cooler mid-60s again.
The extended forecast is wide open, meaning models differ late into the weekend.
They can’t decide if we might see a return to rain or continued dry.
This will be worked out by Friday, so stay tuned and enjoy more 70s.

Another week and the forecast are really easy, as it has been for most of January.
https://zoom.earth/#view=16.4,-98.6,4z/date=2022-01-24,06:00,-8
We will have dry weather all week with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s. With on and off onshore to offshore flow.
This is the last week of January, so we will hope for rain to return in February.
Long-range models are hinting that this may occur. In the meantime, the fantastic January weather continues

Good Friday morning,
What a fantastic day Thursday was in Santa Barbara. It is so nice to feel the sun warming the skin.
If you feel the same, you will like this forecast
Today we have a dry inside slider rolling down the interior with cold air. This means inland temps will remain normal, but coastal areas and valleys will be above normal.
Highs today in the upper 60s. Just look at that big whip pumping the storms up, over, and down the interior.
Tonight and Saturday another strong Santa Ana wind event. Wind gusts could be as high as 80 miles an hour on some mountain tops near LA, normal wind-prone areas Ventura to LA will see 40 to 60 mile an hour winds tonight and Saturday.
This will compress the air and warm it, as most Santa Ana events do. Highs Saturday and Sunday will be in the low to mid-70s with lots of sunshine.
Here is God’s country, Yes, I mean Santa Barbara, Goleta, and Montecito. It will be just a perfect weekend with little to no wind. The winds to the south will only warm us up here.
I suggest if you live to the south, pack your bag for the weekend and come to Santa Barbara. It will be worth the drive.
Next week, another week with no rain in the forecast. Monday we should switch back to onshore flow with some fog and cooler temps. These conditions will prevail through the week with the 60s most of the week.
If you are lucky enough to live locally, you do not need to go anywhere, but outdoors.
I promise you will enjoy this weekend in Santa Barbara!

Good Wednesday morning,
Another week and month marching by.
The next week is dominated by dry weather, warmer Santa Ana winds.
Today a few low clouds to start the day, but any areas with clouds will disappear quickly as the offshore flow begins.
https://zoom.earth/#view=35.02,-115.26,6.16z/date=2022-01-19,05:50,-8
Thursday the offshore kicks in at its normal spots. Ventura to Santa Monica will experience 35 to 45 mile an hour offshore winds. As usual, the winds will compress and warm the air. Ventura south will warm 8 to 10 degrees. Santa Barbara has no wind and 4 to 8 degrees of warming.
Friday winds subside for 1 day, with little change in temp. A few degrees of cooling.
Saturday is another Strong Santa Ana event. This kicks up the winds to the south and heats the skies for all into the low to mid-70s.
Sunday is another great day in Santa Barbara, winds settle in Ventura south.
Monday and Tuesday cooling, but no rain in sight.
The extended forecast does not look good for rain, with all indications of dry weather into the beginning of February.
Enjoy the warm weather over the period Thursday through Sunday. Windy in Ventura south.
Santa Barbara is the place to be with just fantastic January weather.
Enjoy the great warm weather

Good Tuesday morning,
The Cut-off low that has been pestering us for the last 5 days is now moved East.
The rain finally came in the afternoon but did not produce much. The big winner was Refugio canyon with .28″, everyone else was 1/10 or less.
https://www.wrh.noaa.gov/lox/scripts/getlocal.php?prod=LAXRRMSBA
Today and the rest of the week, into early next week it is all about dry weather again.
Where we have seen very little rainfall since Christmas week, we are fast approaching a month with little rainfall. It is time to get us back on track.
This will not happen this week, as high pressure and offshore flow build in again with sunny and warmer temps.
Today we will see a warming trend with the mid-60s followed by warming temps Wednesday into Thursday.
Friday the first offshore moves East then Saturday we welcome another warmer wind event.
It Looks like some 70s for all both Saturday and Sunday.
Next week the sunny and dry continues through at least Tuesday.
Have a great day, and week. We will hope for a change next week

Good Monday morning,
A holiday for some, but for all, we have a little rain in the forecast.
The cut-off low that has been spinning in the Pacific is now starting to move towards the coast. This will bring us some light rain after 10 am into this evening.
Not a lot maybe 1/10 of an inch, with a max of 1/4 of an inch. https://zoom.earth/
Overnight the system moves east and the rain chances end.
Tuesday through the end of the week is looking sunny and dry.
Midweek we warm up as another Santa Ana offshore event set up.
Wednesday and Thursday 5 to 10 degrees of warming.
Enjoy the brief rain today

Good Thursday morning,
As always, the week is flying by. Yesterday the clouds kept us cooler than predicted with a high of 73 degrees.
Today we have lots of action in the Pacific, but not a lot of effects here https://zoom.earth/
Other than cooler weather for the next 7 days. it looks like highs of the mid-60s and high clouds will be part of the forecast through the weekend.
You can see the high clouds being pulled up from Mexico, with the low-pressure system moving into the Pacific Northwest AGAIN.
Overall the forecast is dry for us with the mid-60s and clouds. we will see on and offshore flow throughout the next week.
Not much changes with pretty sunrises and sunsets. slight chances of rain, with little accumulations the next week.
Very low tides in the afternoons the rest of the week, good beach walk weather with sweatshirts.

Good Wednesday morning,
Where do I start today? High pressure will give us a day to remember. https://zoom.earth/
- 59 degrees at 4:30 am in January. The East coast is having record lows with high in the teens.Â
- If you live on the beach, you will hear the surf at 5:30 is a lot closer with a 5.3 high tide, however, we will be rewarded with a .02 low tide at 1:17 pm.Â
You have my permission to take a late lunch and a beach walk
- Today will be a warm day. Hot for most especially for winter. Highs will be in the upper 70 to low 80s with offshore winds.Â
All of this tells you to get outside today and smell the warm air at the beach.
The forecast will remain good for at least the next 7 days. It does look like the cut-off low will behave and only bring us great sunrise and sunset photos starting Thursday.
Thursday the clouds will come back into the picture, very similar to Monday. Offshore winds will weaken and some cooling. Highs, however, will still be above normal with low 70s for all.
The weekend will continue with some clouds, highs still in the low 70s, and no rain.
Next week, a slight chance for rain Monday, but not likely at this point. After that dry weather for the 7-day forecast.
The rest of this week, high tides in the early morning hours and super low tides into afternoons with – 0.00 levels.
Perfect through the week to walk and observe the tide pools on the beach.
You will likely see Adam out there digging in the low tide pools at Hendry’s beach and me on my electric beach cruiser.
Lastly, the night times are going to be bright as the full moon grows the rest of the week.
Enjoy the great weather the rest of the week.
This is way better than freezing temps, snow, rain in the rest of the country.
Today will be the best day of the next 7 days.

Good Tuesday morning,
Wow, what a sunrise on Monday. It was spectacular!
Hopefully, it is a good day for you, and you staying away from Covid. It is another crazy surge after the holidays. If you are Covid free like me. “That rhymes “ You are going to love the summer-like weather we will see for the next 3 days.
Offshore winds and record heat are the stories for the next 3 days. Offshore winds are currently blowing at 24 miles an hour to the south of us. These winds will compress and raise temps from the low to mid-80s to the south.
Even Santa Barbara with no winds will see 80 degrees on Wednesday. For all highs will be in the 70s and 80s through Thursday. Even more interesting will be the very low tides in the afternoons through the weekend.
We will see negative low tides each afternoon starting Wednesday.
Take a longer lunch break and check it out.
As mentioned, the offshore and hot weather for January will break records through Thursday. Then a cut off low comes into the picture for the weekend.
As always who knows what this will do, so let’s focus on the great weather for the next 3 days.
Enjoy the hot weather and low tides

Good Friday morning,
There will be some changes to the weather pattern of the past few days, as offshore flow turns onshore.
Low pressure to the north is going to brush the area today.
It still looks like if any rain falls it will be In the 1/100’s of an inch and remain in SLO County.
For us only cooler temps in the low 60s and some fog today. The system washes out as it nears point conception.
https://zoom.earth/
Tonight, the winds pick up in Santa Barbara as the front moves out.
Saturday will bring another very cool day, but the offshore flow will build in for Sunday.
Sunday will be a nice day with some warming.
Sunday night and Monday, the offshore flow breaks down again and turns onshore.
Another front will be approaching from the north again.
This one is trending more and more towards light rain on Monday and Monday night. Although not a lot , but 1/10 of an inch is possible, stay tuned.
After the brief rain Monday we turn back to dry and offshore weather the rest of the week.
Sunrise and sunset are now starting to extend the direction we like, sunrise is 7:05 am and sunset 5:04 pm. The good news is the days gain around 1 minute each day, and for the most part, it is on the backside. You can see the gain of daylight each day this month https://www.timeanddate.com/sun/usa/santa-barbara
Enjoy the weekend, nice but cooler.

Good Thursday morning,
The week is flying by. More rain in the pacific northwest, but dry to the south https://zoom.earth/
Today we are starting out with warmer weather in SB at 53 degrees to start.
The valley is 39 just over the hill. Highs will warm today to the nice upper 60s to 70.
Friday cooler weather moves in as a weak low with no rain cools us down.
Saturday will also be cooler, then warming Sunday and offshore winds arrive.
Next week we will see offshore winds to start the week, with still no rain in sight.
Enjoy

Good Wednesday morning,
It has been a few days, since my last report. Sorry for that, but sunny weather has been keeping me very busy trying to catch up from the rains.
The sunny and dry weather will continue for the next weeks at least. This is great news. Even better, the weather in the next 2 days will warm up.
Today it looks like the main story will be the north winds. https://www.weather.gov/lox/
Mountains will see 45 to 55mph gusts, Santa Barbara south coast 35mph this afternoon.
This all results in warmer temps into the low 70s in some areas. As a matter of fact, we will see 2 warm days with above-normal temps.
Friday there is a slight chance for rain, but more in the north, none here.
The weekend is looking good with a slight ridge and warmer Saturday. Sunday, we cool back down into the mid-60s.
Next week the dry weather continues, with most of the week looking dry at this point.
This time of year. We can count on a 7-day forecast, beyond that it is an educated computer guess.
Enjoy the dry weather, we earned the break.
All the rains have put us anywhere from 170% to 230% of normal rainfall to date. That’s great, but Cachuma really has not changed much.
Jameson and Gibraltar are rising nicely. As soon as Gibraltar fills all the water goes straight to Cachuma http://www.countyofsb.org/pwd/water/downloads/hydro/rainfallreports/rainfallreport.pdf
Enjoy. Remember the wind today
