2/28/18 Good Wednesday Morning
Cold morning to start the day with a full moon. Tuesday, we did not get any precipitation to note in SB, but oddly enough it snowed on the 101 between Woodland Hills and Thousand Oaks Tuesday afternoon.
Today we will have a cool day, with highs likely not even making it to 60.
Tonight cold, and freezing in many areas.
Then there is Thursday. It will start out fine, but the low pressure system will track our way. Prefrontal shower may start up on the central coast later morning and SB later in the afternoon. These will be light and not really cause any concern.
Thursday night into early Friday morning is when the real rain begins. Looks now like the system is slowing down a little. So rain will likely start after midnight in SB. With this rain, we will have good totals especially on south facing mountains (yes that means Santa Barbara and Montecito.) Looks like 1 to 3 inches are likely. There is a ray of good news. The weather service has backed down the intensity to 1/4 to 1/3 of an inch per hour. This is good news for Montecito.
You will hear creeks flowing, but flooding should not be an issue.
Rain will fall constantly for around a 4 to 5 hour period, then turn to showery. Showers will likely occur through Saturday now. As we turn the corner into Saturday, you will see sun and clouds, with only a few showers.
This system overall is one to watch.
At this point the weather service has a pretty good Handel on it. As it gets closer, we will watch.
Thursday morning forecast is the one to read, if you are concerned. Of course I will be up early reading the forecast discussions.
Here is the easy reading forecast.
Beyond Saturday, we are looking at dry weather through at least Tuesday. A weak system may approach Wednesday, but day 8 is way too far out to talk about.
Have a great day, and I will have your forecast by 6am Thursday for the event….
2/27/18 Tuesday Morning
Good morning,
Looks like the low is right over us right now. You can see it spinning counter clockwise.
Most of the rain is off shore, but the best chance of rain for us will be in the next 3 hours. After that, the storm will move south and east.
http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/weus/h5-loop-wv.html
This was another system that teased us, but did not perform. Rain totals to this point have been less than 1/10 of an inch.
We still have rain chances this morning, but it will clear up this afternoon. We will then remain dry throughout Thursday day time.
Thursday night through Friday, we are looking at a good storm with southern flow and a subtropical connection. This system is looking better as time rolls on. We are looking now for 1 to 1 1/2 inches and 2 inches in the mountains. Heaviest rain rates will be 1/3 to 1/2 inch per hour. They will need to keep an eye on Montecito burn areas, but remember the mud flow had 1/2 an inch of rain in 5 minutes. The max rate is 12 times less than the Jan 9th event. Creeks will flow, but not like rivers.
The weekend is looking dry, but cool. As a matter of fact, all days will stay cool with highs in the 50s or low 60s at best.
Ok, have a great day.
Stay tuned.
2/26/18 Monday Morning Forecast
Good Monday morning,
I hope everyone had a good weekend. Our weather this week is going to bring us some welcome changes. We are going to see a few rain systems drop water on us. The last real rain we received was Jan 9th. The good news is the rain will be much tamer. If you look at the satellite, you can see the system starting to dive north to south just along the land and coast.
http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html
This will be a fairly dry system with more over land then water, however, the good news is it is more coastal. This means rain will occur. How much? Well .20 to .40 of an inch.
This system will be very showery in nature. There is also a chance of thunder storms overnight and Tuesday.
The system will also be fairly cold. Snow level will be around 5000 ft to start and drop overnight. This system will be a north to south storm. That means SB will see less than other locations. Santa Ynez should have a fair amount of rain.
Tuesday, look for some thunder storms possible.
Wednesday and the first half of Thursday will be fair.
Thursday night, through Friday we will see the next system. This one looks to bring us better rain, 1/2 to an inch. Once the system goes through today, we will have a better Handel on the next.
In the meantime, look for dry through this afternoon, with some rain starting this evening.
Nothing too heavy.
Have a good Monday, it is a bit warmer this morning. Not as cold as it has been.
Enjoy your day.
2/26/18 Sunday, Great Day
Good Sunday morning,
It is going to be the best day in at least the next 7 or longer. So get out there and enjoy this one outdoors.
This morning, depending on where you are waking up, it is in the 30s or 40s. Chilly out there, but the sun will begin to heat the skies nicely.
Highs today will be in the upper 60s, with lots of sunshine and calm winds.
Tonight will also be clear and cool.
Monday, the low pressure system rolls in from north to south.
Looks like rain will begin in the afternoon over in SLO and drop south and rain in SB in the evening.
Tuesday the rain will end, rain totals are going to be on the light side. 1/4 to 1/3 of an inch.
Wednesday, a dry day.
Thursday, the next system rolls in. Looks like rain will start up Thursday afternoon. This system is looking stronger and we should see some good rain out of this one.
Models are coming together on Thursday storm. We will get a better feel in the next few days on how much will fall. This is another cold storm.
Bottom line, it looks like winter has finally arrived to southern California.
Enjoy today, it will be the best one in at least the next 7.
2/26/18 Saturday Morning
Another chilly morning, especially for those in the valleys.
Today and the weekend will bring us a mixed bag. Colder is one of them. Nights will be 20 to 40 degrees, depending on where you live.
This afternoon the wind will come up from the northwest in Santa Barbara.

Sunday, will be the best day of the next week. Looks like after a cold start to the day, temps will rise to almost normal or upper 60s.
Sunday night, the next system begins to roll in.
Monday we are looking at rain starting up in the afternoon. For SLO, early afternoon and Santa Barbara, late afternoon.
Yes, all models agree and it looks like we will see around 1/4 to 1/3 of an inch.
Monday night, rain.
This is another colder system, with snow levels at 2500 to 3000 feet.
Tuesday, it clears out, and we are back to fair for a few days.
Thursday, the next system moves in. The models have been back and forth on the rain with this system. Yesterday, it was dryer. Today it is wetter.
We will see how this all shakes out in the next few days.
At this point, we are looking at 1/2 to 1 inch of rain from Thursday afternoon into Friday.
Ok that’s your weekend update… Enjoy!
2/23/18 Friday Has Arrived
Good chilly morning,
OMG if you are tired and want to wake up, just walk outside to the wind and cold. You will not need coffee; it is an instant wake up.

So enough of this wind and cold. This is not the reason I moved to California!!!!
Just look at the headline on the national weather service.
What are we going to see for today and the weekend? Today, the wind continues and of course another cold day. Snow is falling in the LA Mountains.
For us, it’s just cold and windy. Tonight the winds die down, and only the cold remains. Temps will be even colder tonight, because of no wind.
Saturday and Sunday, we will call it pleasant …Still on the cool side, but the winds will be calm. Nights are going to be quite cool, with freezing temps in the valleys, but day time should heat up to the mid to upper 60s.

Monday……A low pressure system moves in…Looks like we will see clouds showing up Monday with rain later in the afternoon and overnight. Now don’t get too excited, because we are only looking at 1/10 to 1/3 of an inch.
Tuesday and Wednesday should be fair with another system Thursday afternoon and Friday.
This is still far out there, so models are guessing on what will happen.
Unfortunately, the latest model run shows this system staying more to the north. This means nothing at this point, because yesterday it was a stronger system, “according to the computers.”
We will see how this all shakes out over the next few days. For now, it is really cold and windy out there… Not what I would order up for my day.
Dress warm. The weekend should be nice, no winds and highs in the mid to upper 60s.
Stay tuned for future rain updates, have a great weekend, it will be the last one in February of 2018.
2/22/18 Thursday Forecast
Good Thursday morning,
Here comes the next inside slider, another low pressure system with little to no rain.
http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html
Today will be cool again, with winds from different directions throughout the day.
Tonight, winds will turn to the northwest and Santa Barbara will feel typical wind. Cold weather will prevail tonight and the rest of the week. Winds will begin to calm Friday and Saturday. This will create cold nights, especially in the valleys.
Days will be cooler, with highs in the low 60s, well below normal.
Sunday afternoon, we will begin to transition into the next weather system.
Monday and Tuesday is when the next system arrives, 3 models have 3 different solutions at this point. 2 are calling for rain, one shows another inside slider.
This will be a better system, and I feel rain is likely to occur. Just how much, depends on whether the low is more over the ocean…
Late next week, there will be another system Thursday and Friday. This is way in the extended forecast, but looks like we might be getting into a wetter pattern, “finally”.
As always, stay tuned….
And always, have a great day….
2/21/18 Good Wednesday Morning
Another chilly start to the day. Freezing temps in the valleys and 40s coastal. This is still not as cold as they once talked about.
This is likely due to some clouds coming into the area, keeping the warm in and stopping the cold from coming down to the surface.
What this really means is, we did not get as cold as we thought….
Satellite pictures show the next system digging down from the north. This will arrive Thursday.
http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html
This system looks to be stronger than Tuesday’s, but it is still moisture starved. It has the same path as Tuesday’s. It is mainly over land.
Today will be cold. Most areas will have highs in the 50s, maybe a few low 60s.
Tonight, still cold, but up a few degrees from Tuesday.
Thursday, the next system rolls in. Looks like possibly we could see 1/10 of an inch of rain with this. The cold will continue to be with us.
Friday, cool and transition day. No real excitement.
Saturday and Sunday, we will have a weak ridge form, with a slight warm up. Temps will still be cooler and below normal.
Then there is next week.
We still are not sure what is really going to happen, but models are showing a system dropping out of the Gulf of Alaska.
This should arrive Monday or Tuesday. With that…the rain word will be back in the forecast. We are just not sure how strong a system like this will be.
It does, however, look to be a better chance of measurable rain. Bottom line, stay tuned and as the weekend approaches, we will get a better feel on this.
In the meantime, dress warm and have a great day!
2/20/18 Good Chilly Morning
Well it is not as cold as it could have been. This is thanks to the winds out there, keeping the temps up some.
Santa Ynez valley is 30 degrees right now, with Santa Barbara coming in at the low 40s.
The north winds have also been blowing all night. This will just make it feel colder, with the wind chill affect.
If you look at the satellite picture, there are lots of clouds around, with a low well out at sea.
http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html
Today, expect a colder day, highs in the 50s after a cold start. The winds should die down later today.
Tonight will be the coldest night. Expect cold temps with lots of 30s and 20s everywhere.
Wednesday brings another cold inside slider. This should just bring us wind, from the northwest.
Wednesday night, cold, but not as cold as Tuesday.
Thursday will bring one more inside slider. This one looks to have a little more punch, but rain for Santa Barbara is not likely due to the system approaching from the north. Other areas can see some possible rain, but this is moisture starved.
Friday and through the weekend, a slight warm up, but nothing like what we have seen earlier in the month. Temps will be below normal.
That brings us to next week, and a ray of hope for rain. Where this is still a ways out.
Models are suggesting a pattern change that can set up for a good soaking. We will just need to watch how this develops. In the meantime, rain possible early next week.
Ok that’s it for today, a chilly start… dress warm…
2/20/18 Good Monday Morning
Good Monday morning,
What a difference 1 day makes. It is chillier out there this morning, but you have not seen anything yet.
Take a look at the satellite picture. See those white puffs coming down the coast. Well that’s the cold air.
http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/weus/h5-loop-wv.html
As you can see it has not arrived yet. This is an inside slider, which means there is very little moisture with it. That, combined with cold north wind means no precept for Santa Barbara. There will be some snow in the local mountains, mainly on north faces, 2 to 4 inches. Santa Barbara Mountains will block any moisture along the coast; however, it is possible to see a rare sight of snow over the top of the hills.
Talking about cold, we will have freezing temps almost everywhere overnight for the next 2 days. Freeze will get into Montecito. All areas will see frost on the roofs on Tuesday morning. Mountains will get as cold as 10 degrees and with a wind chill it will be like -10 degrees. Bottom line, it will be bitter cold the next few days.
As far as rain goes, It does not look good.
There is another system dropping down from the north Wednesday night into Thursday. This one looks just like today’s system. Cold and moisture starved.
This week will feel like winter, but without rain.
Friday and Saturday a slight warm up.
Sunday into next week looks to stay dry…as the end of February approaches . It is not looking good for rain. Our only hope is a March Miracle.
The mud in Montecito will freeze the next 2 nights. You can ice skate on the mud.
Ok that’s it for today. Break out those winter clothes. You will need them….
Farmers will be in panic mode the next 2 days, saving crops.
2/20/18 Are Your Ready for a Blast of Winter
Good Sunday morning,
Enjoy your last day of warm weather, because next week is going to be bitter cold.
Looks like we will be blasted with cold air all week as systems roll down from the north.
http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html
Today, enjoy while you can, dig out the cold weather stuff.
Tonight the cold moves in. By morning the snow level will be at 1,500 to 2,000 feet. There might even be some snow in the local mountains, 2 to 4 inches.
Monday will be cold, with Monday night well below freezing in all the valleys.
Tuesday, waking with a heater on will be needed. Even Montecito will be at the freezing mark.

Cool weather continues all week. Even the rain word is in the forecast. The only problem is the models have not agreed when. Rain possibilities start Tuesday into Wednesday, then more likely Thursday into Friday.
Let’s see how they come together the next few days.
The one thing they all agree on is the cold. This will blast us with the coldest weather of the season.
Funky weather this season !!!
2/15/18 Thursday Forecast
Good Thursday morning,
Rain is gone. Sunshine and warmer temps will take over through Saturday.
The rain Wednesday morning was a nice sight, even if it really did not amount to much. The rain lingered around thanks to the cut off low that was over the coastal waters.
This has moved south and east, so we are left with the next dome of high pressure.
The satellite pictures tell it all.
http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html
Today will be pleasant and warm, sunshine and low 70s.
Tonight our friends in Ventura south will need to sleep with ear plugs. The wind will come up tonight and blow 50 miles an hour in the mountains and 35 to 40 coastal.
Yes another Santa Ana event…..
Friday will be more of the same wind in Santa Ana wind areas. Santa Barbara, however, will be sunny with no wind.
Saturday, the winds go away. Also onshore flow returns in the afternoon.
Sunday cools down with some fog in the morning. Sunday night, a weak system rolls in with drizzle or light rain over night and Monday morning.
Tuesday and Wednesday will be unsettled at this point, and much cooler. Then, sunshine should return the second half of the week.
Ok, get ready for a warmer and sunnier next few days.
2/14/18 Wednesday Weather
Good Wednesday morning,
I wrote a forecast on my ipad and sent it to my lap top, and now I can’t find it. So round two it is…
Happy Valentine’s Day! Don’t forget, I don’t want anyone to get in the dog house.
Regarding the weather, the rain sure was a disappointment. Looking at what fell, it amounted to less than 1/10 of an inch. I think Santa Barbara got 5/100. Only LA College got .56 of an inch for a high with this storm.
Pretty much the way this has gone, in this rainy season. . .
That being said, there is still a chance of rain this morning. If you look closely at the satellite, you will see the low spinning off shore.
http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/weus/h5-loop-WV.HTML
There are even some showers around right now from LA to Santa Barbara.
This will not amount to much, 1/10th to 1/4 at best. This is thanks to the cut-off low that is just spinning out over the water.
This is supposed to open up and move south this morning, then east. That will end the rain chances this afternoon.
Thursday look for some wind from the northwest. This will be felt in SB as high pressure comes back.
Friday winds shift to Ventura as we develop another Santa Ana event. Winds will kick up late Thursday night through Friday.
The weekend is looking good, highs in the low 70s and no rain.
Looks like late Sunday we will see another low pressure system come down the coast. This does not appear to be a big system, but may cause drizzle and some showers Monday and Tuesday. We will just need to see what happens.
In the meantime, Happy Valentine’s Day.
2/13/18 Wow, It’s Raining!
Good morning,
Rain, what a nice thing. Rain is falling right now.
It feels like winter for one of the first times this year. It is actually quite cold out there, with moderate rain falling.
As you can see from the satellite picture, the rain is drifting up from the south.
Low pressure will give us a chance of showers all day today. Rain totals will be light. 1/10th to 1/4 of an inch. Just enough to clean the mud from streets…they will be slick today, so drive slower. It is also colder out there. Snow levels are down to 3,500 feet, so resorts will see some much needed white stuff.
The low that is affecting our weather, will move south and east overnight. This will end any chance for rain in SB by Wednesday morning. It will be another cool day.
Thursday, a Santa Ana event sets up once again. Dry and warming for the second half of the week.
The weekend will continue to be dry and warm.
The next chance of rain will be Sunday night into Monday. Still a ways out, so we will keep you up to date.
2/12/18 Rain to Start the Week
Good morning,
Rain is back in the forecast after over a month.
The funky weather does not stop with the lack of rain. This low pressure system is going to move from north to south, east to west, and south to north….
http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html
The low is dropping down from the north right now, over Nevada. As it reaches the central coast, it will take a right hand turn towards the coast this afternoon.
It will then, move south into northern Baja, make a U-turn and come back north.
Besides the funky movement, it is going to be much colder then yesterday. Today in the valleys will be 10 to 25 degrees cooler then Sunday.
Coastal areas 5 to 10 degrees cooler.
As far as rain goes, when will it start and how much…Totals should be 1/4 to 1/2 inch over the next few days for us.
The harder part is when will it come? This is going to become a cut off low. As Kirk Gym rat friend say, yes they are hard to know where they will drift and when.
For us, tonight we might see a little rain, then Tuesday afternoon looks to be wetter as this drifts back north.
To be safe, the weather service is keeping rain in the forecast through Wednesday. At this point, it looks like it should be just the first two days.
Extended forecast Thursday through the weekend. It looks like a warm up, no rain and 70s.
Ok running late today.
Have a great day!
2/12/18 Good Saturday Morning
Weekend has arrived,
Looks like a mixed bag for our weekend weather. We will have a little of everything, but rain.
Today, we are starting out with fog and it will be a cooler day, with highs in the low 60s.
Tonight, the winds kick up in Ventura and points south as we get a Santa Ana wind. Expect gusts to 45 miles an hour and 20 to 30 sustained. No wind in SB.
Sunday, SB and all areas should reach a high of 70 with a nice day in SB. Wind will continue in Ventura – south.
Monday, the beginning of the work week brings a low pressure system that is going to give us some rain.
Monday night, the rain should start and go late into early Tuesday. This will not be a big system, but 1/4 to 1/2 is likely for areas south of point conception. Areas north will not see a lot with this system.
Tuesday, rain…light to moderate.
Wednesday through Friday, is a big ??? This is because a cut off low is predicted to form and just spin around. This may bring rain or showers.
This part of the forecast is too far out to call. We will see how this develops the beginning of the week.
In the meantime, the weekend over all should be nice. In Ventura, get your golf in today. Sunday will be windy.
The best news is the rain forecast. Not a big one Monday night. Just enough to start cleaning all the mud off the streets.
http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-119.68445898437498&lat=34.42350747476905#.Wn7_neaIafA
Have a good weekend.
2/12/18 Weekend Weather
Good Friday morning,
Looks like we will have a cooler few days, then a warm up Sunday. Next week rain is in the forecast… Let’s give more detail.
Today, a cool down begins, as onshore flow moves in.
Saturday, you will wake to fog and a cooler day again. Highs in the 60s.
Saturday night into Sunday morning…Look out Ventura and south…There is going to be a strong Santa Ana wind event. Winds are going to blow hard.
Sunday, the Santa Ana will warm everyone up. Windy in Santa Ana prone areas…No wind in Santa Barbara…Just nice 70s. Mark come up and meet Blakely.
Monday, a low begins to move in. Low clouds are likely.
Monday night through Thursday, rain is in the forecast. This looks to be a cut off low. So we really do not know what it will do and when it will rain at this point. Just plan on some rain 1/4 to 1/2.
More detail to follow…Too early to call it…
The big news is I am a grand pop. My daughter had a baby girl today at 2:19 am. Late night for her and Conor. Me, I slept through it all!!!
I did get up early and buy her, her first web site, blakelydouglass.rocks
Have a great weekend.
2/8/18 Prophetic
Good Thursday morning,
Can you believe it has been a month since we have seen any rain and worse that it was rain that created the biggest disaster that I have ever witnessed?
Also who would ever think we would have no rain between Jan 9th to now. This is our rainy season. Well not this year.
Well, it looks like the long dry period might be coming to an end next week. Rain is in the forecast for late Monday through Thursday. This is still a ways out and confidence is low at this point, but rain is in the forecast.
For now, today will be the last hot day. We will begin a good cool down through the weekend. Cool at night, but upper 60s and low 70s during the day. Looks like Saturday will bring us back low clouds and fog. Rain word comes into play late Monday. This could have some sub-tropical component with it.
Stay tuned…
Amazing, it has been 1 month since the start of the rains. This is Monday morning’s forecast, right when the first rain started to drop lightly. The disaster came 18 hours later.
Interesting for me to read this back, who would have known the real outcome.
Weather Report from January 8, 2018
“Monday morning to all,
Well this is going to be an interesting day to watch. It looks like the lighter rain is starting everywhere but Santa Barbara right now. It smells like rain outside, it should start here soon. This is all thanks to moisture being pulled up from the subtropical jet.
http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html
Today we will see light rain and lighter winds from the south. 10 to 15 miles an hour. The core of the storm is still to the northwest. You can see it well defined with the colors on the satellite picture. This part of the storm will arrive later tonight into Tuesday morning. In LA, commuter traffic on Tuesday will be a nightmare.
The heavy rain from the storm comes over night. It will get pretty wild. We will see flooding in the burn areas, just how much mud is mixed with the water is yet to come.
Carpentaria will be impacted the most, followed by the San Ysidro Rd, Ramero Canyon, and Sycamore Canyon areas. Creeks are going to be flowing like rivers.
Heavy rains should taper off by late morning Tuesday. Expect showers after that until Wednesday morning. You will know when the rain is going to end, by the wind . It will change from south to north.
Wednesday through the weekend will be dry, and mostly sunny. This will give us a chance to clean up the mess.
Rain totals
- SB 3 inches
- Costal 1 to 3 inches
- Foothills 4 to 7 inches
- South facing mountains 9 inches
Lots of wind for all tonight, 30 to 60 miles an hour overnight.
Have a great day, rain today will not be that bad. Look out Tuesday morning.”
30 days later, and the cleanup is not even close to being done.
San Ysidro creek was 200 feet wide at Park Lane West.
Wider at Glen Oaks.
So sad, this will change the area forever.

2/7/18 Wednesday Update
Good morning,
It has been feeling more like February the past few days, with cooler temps at least.
Today, we will feel the next warm up. Santa Ana winds will start up again in Ventura and points south. The winds today will not be as strong, as past events. 15 to 20 coastal and 25 to 40 mountains.
Everyone will see a nice warm up today and Thursday. Highs will be in the upper 70s.
Friday, a cool down again. Looks like we will see fog for the weekend. Highs will be in the upper 60s for the weekend.
Monday will be the coolest day of the next 7.
Still no rain in sight…..This is crazy that we have not seen a drop of rain since January the 9th…..
Good for Montecito, but bad for California….
http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-119.66345834960934&lat=34.42886727776765#.WnsCfeaIafA
Enjoy the day, each day Montecito gets cleaned up a little more.
2/5/18 New Week’s Weather
Good Monday morning,
Wow, what a Super Bowl! That was exciting till the last second! It is going to be a mad house in Philadelphia for the next week.
Returning to the weather, I was thinking yesterday, when was the last time we saw fog, or even a damp morning? It has been a long time…well today is the first in a long time.
It is only around 400 feet thick, and will burn off quickly. Looks like Tuesday morning we can have more of the same. Don’t think we are going into a different pattern, because that is not true.
Wednesday, we will welcome back another Santa Ana event. Ventura and points south will feel the wind once again and a new warm up.
Speaking of the Santa Ana, I was in LA Saturday and Sunday morning. It was 90 degrees there….not even that bad here. I think we hit 84 degrees. Great weather to watch a Super Bowl outside.
Getting back on track, looks like 70s all week through at least Sunday.
Still no rain in sight, but we will hope that things switch for the week after next.
http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html
Have a good week!
2/2/18 Home With Mud
Good Friday morning,
No excitement in the forecast, unless you yearn for highs in the 70s, for some time.
Interesting perspective,
- We have had basically one day of rain since the start of our rain year Oct 1st.
- January, we had 10 days of a high of 70 degrees or more, and 5 days over 80.
- The first day of February starts our streak of 80 and over.
- There is no rain in sight. Next Wednesday we should get warmer again, kicking temps back into the 80s.
This year is not looking good for rain. I guess that is actually the best thing for Montecito. I was touring the area yesterday while on calls. It is incredible to see the damage up close.
One home on winding creek road off of Romero Canyon had 6 to 8 feet of mud all around it. The attached photo is from the good side of the house.
Some areas I do not even recognize.
http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/nepac/h5-loop-wv.html
Ok that’s it for now, enjoy summer in February.
.jpg)
2/1/18 Thursday Forecast
Good morning,
No changes for the next 10 days at least!!! Just 70’s and lower 80’s for a high.
Ventura south will have a mild Santa Ana wind event. Nothing like what they had last weekend. Temps through Saturday will be 10 to 15 degrees above normal.
http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-119.70218320388794&lat=34.43123670289866#.WnMbPeaIafA
Super bowl is Sunday. I think there will be a lot of outdoor parties. The weather sure will be nice here. For Minnesota, temps will be around 4 degrees and with wind chill it will be well below 0.
Why are people paying so much to see the game live? Ticket prices are basically free here, and we have 70’s.
Today, Eenjoy the sunshine, and welcome to Feb 1st. With no rain in sight, the first half of February is not looking good.
I am getting lots of questions, like when will it rain…I really have no idea how much we can see, but it is a La Nina year. All the systems are riding up and over us.
We can only hope for a pattern change in the middle of February and maybe another March Miraclee.
Have a great day!
