8/31/23
Good Thursday morning,
The last day of August, and it has been an interesting record breaking month with 2 storms.
Starting today we will see quite a cool down as low pressure from the north is moving into our forecast area. In the LA area, a coastal eddy has spun up creating a deeper marine later there. Visibility is 1/4 a mile which will mess with some airports.
For us we are still fairly clear at this moment, but expect fog to move in this morning.
Today it will be quite a bit cooler with coastal highs in the 70s and valleys in the lower 80s.
Friday and Saturday does get interesting as the marine layer takes over thanks to the low pressure system moving over us. It is early in the season to see a weather system from the north pass through. Nor Cal will actually see rain in the Bay areas. For us it is looking like drizzle both Friday and Saturday possibly into Sunday. still much cooler until the labor day itself. Monday we will warm up slightly and though next week as high pressure take over again.
https://zoom.earth/maps/satellite/#view=32.71,-124.727,6.46z
It has been a very interesting 2023 with weather and it does not seem to be changing into September. It looks like we will see a chance for measurable rain up to 1/4 of an inch at 20% over the weekend. If we call this weekend, the last weekend of summer… It will not be very summer like in Santa Barbara, but the good news is summer really lasts through October in Southern California.
Enjoy the cooler weather this weekend, you won’t be working on your sun tan along the coast.
It really is not a change in seasons yet, but has everyone noticed the surge of COVID it is crazy out there right now! I know 5 people that have come down with it in the past 2 weeks. Good thing my only plans are work and not being around crowds.
Word of caution, have a good holiday weekend if traveling elsewhere.
Have a great weekend

Good Wednesday morning,
All the Action is in Florida right now. https://zoom.earth/maps/satellite/#view=34.8,-115.7,4z/date=2023-08-30,00:50,-7
The hurricane is landing at a cat 3 or 4 storm. I am sure it will be all over the national news in a few minutes.
For us at home, today will be the last hot day, before cooling arrives Thursday.
It actually looks like some interior areas will see 2 to 4 degrees warmer due to northeast winds. Onshore flow will hit us this afternoon, which will bring in some cloud blanket overnight keeping temps from dropping much tonight. It will be warmer overnight with minimal cooling
Thursday will be a cooler day as low pressure to the north descends over us. This will spin up an eddy and fog. Temps will drop some 10 degrees Thursday and Friday.
As far as the weekend goes, it will be quite cool along the coast, with highs in the low 70s. Saturday and Sunday even some morning drizzle is possible, plan accordingly.
Next week looks like a weak ridge will warm us up slightly Monday and Tuesday.
One more day of heat, before the we get a good cool down
Jack Martin
8/29/23
Good Tuesday morning,
It was a hot evening last night. I had to stay inside where the AC was on!
Today, another round of heat for all. Even along the coast, where upper 80s again will prevail. Inland plus 10 degrees, basically hot everywhere.
It looks like some relief is in site, Wednesday will only drop a few degrees.
Thursday will feel the real cooling, through the entire weekend. Onshore flow will return with fog and highs in the 70s along the coast. Inland will also cool off quite a bit.
I love 70s…
All eyes are on the the east coast as a hurricane will make the Tampa area on Wednesday with a cat 3 storm in the gulf then cross the state of Florida back into the Atlantic Ocean. This will be the first real storm to affect the East coast this year however there is lots of Action in the warm waters, so expect more excitement in the next few months
https://zoom.earth/maps/satellite/#view=27.6,-120.9,3.57z
On the west coast, where tropical storms occur we are quiet right now.
Our forecast locally in a nutshell:
Today hot. Tonight real warm, some sundowner winds.
Wednesday still warm, but cooling a few more degrees.
Thursday the cooling trend begins.
Friday though the holiday weekend perfect low 70s and morning fog.
Bring lots of water today!
Jack Martin
8/28/23
Good Monday morning,
Are you ready for the heat? Ready or not the next 2 days will be the warmest we have had in Santa Barbara this year. Where the inland areas have had plenty of hot days, the coast has been spared for the most part. This is thanks to off shore winds keeping the cool pacific air temps away. It looks like highs the next 2 days will be right around the 90 degree mark in SB. Inland plus 10 degrees.
Tonight and Tuesday some warm sundowner winds will make the Mercury climb in SB this evening. It looks like Tuesday will be the hottest day, before onshore flow returns Wednesday through the rest of the week.
https://www.weather.gov/lox/
Time to fire up the A/C the next 2 days. We will feel the heat along the coast.
Jack Martin
8/25/23
Good Friday morning,
Yesterday was certainly a cooler day, with last night just chilly outside with some light winds. This will all start to change today and we will see a gradual warm up each day moving forward. Then to start the work week it will be quite hot.
Today, mid 70s coastal then upper 80s in the valleys.
Saturday and Sunday will bump up 3 degrees each day before becoming hot Monday and Tuesday of next week. Expect triple digits in the valleys and 86 in Santa Barbara.
With August coming to an end, September is right around the corner with warmer weather likely. Less fog along the coast, because the sea temp is rising.
The weekend should be nice, but warming for the start of the work week
Enjoy the weekend,
Jack Martin
8/24/23
Good Thursday morning,
Looking forward for the next 7 days there is no excitement in the weather front, in our neck of the woods at least.
Coastal morning fog then sunshine and highs in the 70s for the next week.
Coastal beach areas have remained quite cool all summer long, with really no need for AC so far this year. We will see how long that lasts, because typically we see temps rise along the coast in September and October as the ocean temp rises.
Regarding the valleys, it has been up and down with the heat. Today will be cooler with highs in the mid 80s. As we get into the weekend it warms up.
Sunday and Monday triple digits are likely. Each day for the next 5 will climb a few degrees each day.
Looking into the tropical zone, a few things are starting to brew in the west. It Looks like 2 systems will form, one going west and the other heading toward Cabo in the next week. We will watch how that plays out in the 10 day forecast for us
https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/gtwo.php?basin=epac&fdays=7
In the mean time, no excitement this weekend. Great weather for Zoofari at the Santa Barbara zoo Saturday night. Just pack a light jacket for later in the evening after sunset. Always a fun event, I will see you there if you are attending.
Enjoy, stay cool in the valleys this weekend, you will need the AC, beach or pool.

Good Wednesday morning,
Not much to say about the weather the rest of the week, but I thought I would share the record rainfall for August breaking all records since we started tracking them:
DTLA: Aug 2023=2.99in ; Old record=2.26in
LAX: Aug 2023=2.55in ; Old record=2.47in
Long Beach Airport: Aug 2023=2.63in ; Old record=2.03in
UCLA: Aug 2023=4.74in ; Old record=3.23in
Burbank Airport: Aug 2023=3.56in ; Old record=2.97in
Woodland Hills: Aug 2023=4.65in ; Old record=2.49in
Camarillo Airport: Aug 2023=2.59in ; Old record=1.04in
Oxnard: Aug 2023=1.77in ; Old record=1.04in
Have a great rest of the week,
Jack Martin
8/22/23
Good Tuesday morning,
It was an interesting weekend, which lasted into Monday with tropical weather.
Now it is back to normal. It was crazy for some locations with rain totals that were incredible from San Diego to Ventura. Just look at these numbers for any, and especially in August!
https://www.wrh.noaa.gov/lox/scripts/getlocal.php?prod=LAXRRMLOS
Now compare it to just west in Santa Barbara area. We received 1/3 of an inch. The big winner in SB county was Figueroa mountain with 2.10, and in contrast Santa Ynez barely got a trace. https://www.wrh.noaa.gov/lox/scripts/getlocal.php?prod=LAXRRMSBA
It was incredible to see the difference in the rain totals that was in the pathway, verses just outside.
There were lots of pretty rainbows in the area. Thanks for all that sent photos.
Now we will get back to work and what’s in the forecast moving forward.
The overall pattern shifts to non eventful. Which means typical weather pattern for summer in California. Normal low clouds and fog along the coast and highs in the mid 70s to sunny and warming in the valleys with highs in the upper 80s. Just calm summer weather. Not too hot and not rainy for the rest of the week.
Enjoy the back to normal, and have a great week
Jack Martin
8/21/23
Good Monday morning,
The first word I can think of for today is impressive. Just look at these rain totals for the LA area. They received anywhere from 3 to 6 inches of rain yesterday https://www.wrh.noaa.gov/lox/scripts/getlocal.php?prod=LAXRRMLOS. In contrast here in Santa Barbara we had only a light tropical rain adding up to .25 to .50 of an inch in total.
Ventura -Oxnard and Ventura County meet in the middle with 1 to 3 inches of rain for the storm. Santa Ynez got basically nothing.
It does amaze me to watch the flow of this tropical system and how the path of rain traveled in a narrow ban. https://zoom.earth/ Hilary is now on her way out of the area.
We will still see some light showers this morning through late morning, but the rain is pretty much over. It was a fun fire drill for us here in SB, but no fire drill in the LA and Palm Springs area.
This morning, it still feels tropical out there, but the system is now to the north. We will return to more normal weather.
Tuesday may be some low fog from the wet ground. Temps will get back to normal with the 70s along the coast and 80s in the valleys as everyone will warm up as the week goes on.
California made its part for national news coverage yesterday as we had a tropical storm and an earthquake in Ojai at 5.1. Did you feel it? I did it was a little rumble upward, but not much.
There is still a little rain out there, but mainly to the south https://radar.weather.gov/station/kvtx/standard
Now the National news shifts to the East Coast as the tropical storms are ramping up in the Caribbean, just look at all those storms out there. I would not want to be on a cruise ship this week in the Caribbean https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ and https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/gtwo.php?basin=atlc&fdays=2 To the west still action to the south, but not affecting our weather anytime soon.
I want to give a shout-out to all my employees that worked on the weekend helping us prepare for the pending storm, they rocked!
Enjoy the week, it is back to normal summer weather.
Sunset rain and sunshine from my backyard last night were “Very Tropical”
Jack Martin
8/18/23
Good Friday morning,
As the weekend approaches, so does the storm system to the south named Hillary.
She is currently spinning at hurricane status west of Cabo San Lucas and will work our way up towards Southern California for the weekend.
We will begin to feel the effects of the humidity sometime on Saturday then with rain chances starting Saturday night in LA and moving into our area most likely Sunday afternoon through Monday.
It does still look like the greatest chance of rain is going to be from Sunday afternoon through Monday for the Santa Barbara area. Depending on how this tracks, the greatest rains likely going to be in LA and Ventura mountains. However, if the system will track a little bit more west, Santa Barbra get hit harder.
Regardless, everyone will see rain thundershowers from the system. How much is still in question, but in the range of 1 inch is likely at this point there’s a flash flood warning for areas south of us for their local mountains because of thunder showers.
Any way you look at it, this is quite unusual for a tropical storm to impact us this hard along the coast. Although, this has been one of those years. Didn’t think I’d be preparing for rain in August.
Below is the local forecast. You can see the icons with thunderstorms and the percentages, so you’ll be able to get an idea of what is to come.
https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?x=193&y=120&site=lox&zmx=&zmy=&map_x=193&map_y=120
Looks like some marine layer to start the day. Then the marine layer will start to go away as the warmer air gets closer. Humidity increases it gets somebody out there. It will feel tropical.
Here is a cool graphic to see the winds and system spinning https://earth.nullschool.net/
Have a great day. Looks like we have two days before the rain arrives.
Stay tuned!
Jack Martin
8/17/23
Good Thursday morning, I think !!!!
I woke up very early this morning thinking about what is to come.
Waiting for the normal 3:35 am forecast discussions update that did not arrive until almost 5am.
I was not sleeping in, but there is so much to talk about what is coming. The top forecasters at the national weather service took longer to send their updates.
The bottom line here is Zoom Earth shows you what’s happening or more so what is going to happen
https://zoom.earth/storms/hilary-2023/
Short-term, who really cares? It is all about what’s coming starting Sunday.
Hilary is now a hurricane and looks to strengthen over the next 24 hours.
This is well to the south, but moving north quickly. High surf, heavy rain, winds, thunderstorms, flash floods. All crazy stuff like that MIGHT affect us Sunday through Tuesday.
The bottom line, all models are pointing towards a 100% rain chance starting Sunday.
Rain can be heavy if the track stays the same, we are looking at 1 to 2 inches between Sunday and Tuesday.
Coastal flooding, and winds 20 to 35 miles an hour.
This system is going to move north as we get into the weekend and looks to hug the coast. Where it turns in is still in question, but right now point conception looks like a bullseye Monday. We will be watching this through the rest of the week and weekend because we typically do not see systems like this affect us. The last one that really hit us like this was the 1970s. I will be watching this closely, but winds, heavy rain, and surf is going to make it very interesting.
Lots more to come. You have been warned.
Get ready for a system that comes every 50 years.
Enjoy the fog, it is 800 feet thick, nice, and cool to start at 59 degrees. Humidity arrives Saturday, and rain Sunday and Monday.
Jack Martin
8/16/23
Good Wednesday morning,
Another week flying by.
Today will be the last really hot day for the interior and valleys.
Highs in woodland hill and those valleys will be over 100 with 108 possible.
In contrast it is foggy along the coast with highs in the low 80s.
Starting out a nice 57 degrees, love that cold Pacific Ocean. Actually the sea temp was 68 degrees yesterday, which is extremely warm for our area.
Some subtropical moisture is drifting up from the south, this is affecting only LA and southern deserts. 20% chance for today
https://zoom.earth/maps/satellite/#view=31.9,-116.9,5.94z
Thursday and Friday, the south flow is blocked and cooling in the interiors is expected.
Not much excitement through Saturday.
Then it becomes interesting 🤔, All eyes turn to Hilary which will become a tropical storm today. This is well south of the area near Acapulco now, but will move north into the Baja for the weekend. This will allow the monsoonal south flow to reestablish and bring rain threat to California Sunday into Tuesday. It is even possible we could see heavy rain with this.
Now as always tropical systems to the south are very hard to forecast, we really need to watch as we get closer to the weekend.
Sunday I think if there is any rain, it will be to the south of out forecast area.
Monday and Monday night will bring the best chance for us. Possible heavy. I will be watching this closely as we get towards the start of the work week.
In the mean time, stay tuned.
Enjoy the rest of the work week. More to follow!
Jack Martin
8/15/23
Good Tuesday morning,
A warm up the rest of the work week is on tap. Expect warmer temps through Thursday, before high pressure moves east. Each day temps will climb a few degrees especially in the valleys and interior. Coastal we still have fog and this will keep the temps down into the low 80s.
Expect 90s to 100 in the valleys and hot 🥵 in the interior like Bakersfield.
For the weekend good news, as it cools off some
https://zoom.earth/maps/satellite-hd/#view=25.5,-129.1,3.92z/date=2023-08-01,am
Next week, another tropical system Hilary might brush the coast of California. We will need to watch this, but early forecast shows 40% chance for rain Monday.
Way too early to call at this point, but be aware.
Jack Martin
8/14/23
Good Monday morning,
It is straight up mid august, with typical hot monsoonal moisture out there.
If you look over the Bay Area you can see the monsoonal moisture moving east to west.
We don’t typically see this, but it looks like areas in Nor Cal will see some rain.
For us, nothing from this, only warmer weather this week through Wednesday
https://zoom.earth/maps/satellite/#view=8,-115.7,4.21z/date=2023-08-13,23:30,-7
Look down into the Mexican waters. The tropical action is getting interesting, as a series of disturbances will be setting up for tropical storms over the next 10 day. Where these will drift is really not clear at this point, but if you are in the southwest monsoonal rains this time of year is reality.
It is interesting, because there has not been much Action on the East coast and Caribbean to date. I am sure this will happen in the next month or so.
Coming back west, this week will be non eventful for southern California coastal areas. Interiors will be hot, but coastal areas will stay in the upper 70s to low 80s. Valleys 90s and interior 100 +.
As we approach the weekend the models are not in agreement. They can not decide if some monsoonal moisture could affect LA or Ventura, but that to far out to care.
We will watch it for now, and have more to say the second half of the week.
In the mean time enjoy the mid summer weather. We are the lucky ones on the coast with the Pacific Ocean keeping temps manageable. A/C is not needed along the coast, nice lower 60s at night and 80 by day. A fan and an open door is your friend over night.
Have a great week and more to come,

Good Sunday morning,
I hope everyone is having a great weekend.
I thought I would start off the forecast with ocean temps. As typical as we get into the next few months ocean temps are on the rise in SB. It looks like we will see 67 degrees locally this week, with one stating 69 degrees.
To our south, lots of tropical action with plenty of disturbances moving to the west toward Hawaii. https://zoom.earth/maps/satellite/
These really are not affecting our weather.
This all segways into our upcoming El Niño season. As we get into fall the El Niño for this coming season strengthens and the odds of a very wet winter increases. With our lakes and reservoirs remaining almost full, it will not take much this year to put them over the top.
We still have 2 1/2 months before we typically see out first rain event, around Halloween. El Niño really starts to affect us in January and February, still 5 months away.
El Niño typically spells a very wet winter, so get prepared. Here is more casual reading for your Sunday
https://www.wunderground.com/article/news/climate/news/2023-07-13-el-nino-july-forecast-update-winter-noaa
For the upcoming week, not much excitement in the forecast. Cooler fog along the coast. Fog this morning is at 900 feet.
Temps will be mid 70s coastal to mid to upper 80s in the valleys.
As the work week arrives so does warmer temps especially in the valleys where the Mercury will climb into the upper 90s. Coastal a nice 80.
Lastly, since it is Sunday. Look to the skies tonight as meteor showers are most prevalent in the skies.
Have a great Sunday
Jack Martin
8/11/23
Wow, that was crazy yesterday. Santa Barbara area was a bullseye for the rain and wet weather. The big winner was Carpentaria where they received 1/2 inch of rain, Santa Barbara was a close 2nd with .30 inches. All the other surrounding counties saw very little rain, except for us https://www.wrh.noaa.gov/lox/scripts/getlocal.php?prod=LAXRRMSBA
Today we see and feel the change, it is foggy and cooler. Humidity is gone.
https://zoom.earth/maps/satellite/#view=36,-117.7,5.46z/date=2023-08-11,04:00,-7
Today still a very slight chance for showers, but this is LA and mountains. Here nothing to worry about.
The forecast for the weekend is looking non eventful with a slight warming trend.
Coastal fog and inland slightly warmer. A nice over all weekend which will range from 70s to 90.
Next week no excitement. Inland and valleys heat up again by mid week. Coastal we stay nice with some fog then upper 70s.
Now the excitement of the weekend will be the update on our upcoming wet El Niño year. Stay Tuned
Jack Martin
8/10/23
Good Thursday morning,
Let the fun begin. If you’re still in bed sleeping in SB you might have been woken to the thunder and rain. At my house I heard the rain around 4:45 and then thunder. My weather station is telling me that lighting is 6 to 8 miles from my station here at home.
What’s in store for today? Well the tropical weather that we have been talking about all week is here.
The tropical clouds are now over point conception and moving right at us. It does look like we will see some rain this morning and more thunder showers into the afternoon.
Rain totals will be very spotty, if you are under a thunder storm it can be heavy. The official percentage for rain today is 40%, but at my house 100%. We will see what actually falls, but 1/10 to 1/4 is likely, with higher amounts in the mountains and below thunderstorms. Rain chances carry through today then we begin to dry up the atmosphere tonight. https://zoom.earth/maps/satellite/#view=32,-134.2,4.66z
Friday looks to be dry, but still very slight possibility of rain.
Saturday into the week, we are looking for slightly warmer, but a dry non eventful period. No excitement beyond today.
Enjoy the show today, it looks like we are going to be damp to start your Thursday.
Have a great day,
Jack Martin
8/9/23
Good Wednesday morning,
The burning question of the day, will we see any rain from the tropical system floating in the pacific? Let’s start by talking about this. You can see it spinning 350 miles southwest of LA. It is starting to pump moisture up from the south towards us.
(You can see it in the loop below)
https://zoom.earth/storms/eugene-2023/
Moisture in the clouds will increase through the day today and we can see some rain possibilities later this evening and best chance Thursday morning.
Now let’s not get to worked up over this, because the atmosphere is very dry at lower levels, rain that comes from the cloud base will evaporate before it hits the ground in many cases. So what does this all mean to us?
20% chance of rain later tonight, and best chance Thursday morning. How much?
Basically 1/4 of an inch or less. Now don’t get me wrong, there is a chance for thunder showers, and where the rain could be much heavier, especially in some mountain areas, mainly to the south.
Rain chance drop way off the further north you go. Rain chances will likely stop at Santa Ynez.
Beyond the rain. Humidity will increase, but temps will drop. We will actually see cooler temps the next few days especially in the valleys and interiors.
For the weekend, Friday some left over moisture, but rain chances mostly go away.
The weekend will be in the 70s to 90s depending on where you live.
Overall a nice weekend, not as hot as it has been.
Next week a little warm up, nothing crazy adding 3 to 5 degrees to the air.
In the mean time, enjoy the tropical vacation coming to us. You don’t need to go to Hawaii, or Mexico. Their weather is coming to us through our nice and cool Pacific Ocean, which is a nice 65 degrees today.
Have a great day,
Jack Martin
8/8/23
Interesting weather for the next few days. There is what’s left of the tropical storm Eugene that will influence our weather through Thursday.
https://zoom.earth/maps/satellite/#view=32.2,-115.2,5.13z
Not much impact today, but Wednesday and Thursday we will see the greatest possibility for some rain.
Looks like today just cooler weather, and fog to start the day.
Tonight areas to the south could see some precipitation, but not here.
Wednesday starts the interesting part of the forecast and the best chance for us to see some rain will be Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
With systems like this it is always difficult on computer models, because we typically do not see subtropical moisture from the south.
Bottom line, water values will be elevated and the rain possibility is there from 20% to 30%. Really this can change at any moment, so watching the weather is important.
We will see how this plays out, but I will be very conservative in my approach with the possibility for rain.
Stay tuned, no rain likely today or over night, some dampness is possible only from fog at this point into Wednesday
Jack Martin
8/7/23
Good Monday morning,
Here we are off and running into a new week.
Good news and interesting weather news:
1. Cooler weather through mid week, all areas will cool each day into Wednesday.
2. Subtropical moisture will arrive Tuesday night to the south and Wednesday night here. There will be a 25% to 30% chance for some light showers. We will see how this shapes up, but moisture and weather coming up from the south is difficult to predict.
It will become humid and feel more like East coast or tropical weather.
This week the cooling trend starts Tuesday with highs in the mid 80s in the valleys and mid 70s in SB. Cooler weather through the week with some fog along the coast. Temps this week overall will be below normal. All good for my guys on roofs.
Enjoy the week,
Jack Martin
8/6/23
Good Sunday morning,
The last day of fiesta 2023. I might need to make an appearance downtown just for the fun of it.
The weather should be fantastic with highs in SB in the low 80s. Hot in the valleys close to 100 in Santa Ynez.
Next week we will cool slightly Monday, but still warm with summer August weather ahead of us. As mentioned earlier tropical storm Eugene is now right off the coast of Cabo, not doing much other than humid, hot and some rain. Wind speeds are only at 65 miles an hour which is only at tropical storm category. By Wednesday of next week the models show it turning into the Southern California coast, which could spark some rain, mainly to the south. This still will be watch, and a South swell is likely for you surfers.
https://zoom.earth/storms/eugene-2023/
In the mean time summer is in full swing, weather is warm to hot.
The days are becoming shorter, as I see the day light starting a little later each morning. The ocean temp is at 65 degrees, sunrise is 6:03 am and sunset 7:55 pm. Low tide today is at 743 am at a .06 which is fairly low. It might be a good morning for a beach walk with friends, family and or your doggy. Lake levels at still high at 96% at Cachuma so no water worries for some years to come. With another El Nino year coming we will only worry about too much water.
You are now up to date from all weather fronts, enjoy your Sunday, and a am going to take most of this day off work mode.
Enjoy your day and maybe me and Pearl will be at Hendry’s beach in an hour and a half for a beach swim for her.

Good Fiesta Friday morning,
Last night we had some northwest winds that warmed us up. At 8:30 it was still 79 degrees at my house.
Today we will transition back into heat in the valleys and interior as high pressure push towards us from Texas. As most of you are aware the southern states have had crazy heat this past month plus. Anything pushing west from that area means hotter weather.
This means hot weather for the weekend. Santa Barbara still nice with low 80s, but valleys in Santa Ynez will be upper 90s through the weekend, with Sunday being the hottest day. Almost 100. Interior valleys 105 to 110.
Monday we back off slightly, but still warm through the period. Not much relief in the heart of summertime in August especially for inland areas.
Down to the south towards Mexico, the satellite is getting interesting with lots of tropical Action brewing up. You can see all the activity out there on this graphic

For us, as we get further into next week, we could see some subtropical weather this way from remnants of Eugene. We will have to see how this drifts towards us. Any way you look at it, the tropical season in Mexico is starting up. Hot weather for them over the next 2 months with September always being the worst month for tropical weather and heat.
Enjoy your fiesta weekend. I will watch from the side lines, maybe a trip to De La Guerra or the new spot across from Leadbetter beach at city colleges lower parking lot.
Viva La Fiesta, enjoy the parade I will be at the office.

Good Wednesday Morning,
Viva La Fiesta day. It all starts today! Here is the schedule Events Calendar – Old Spanish Days | Fiesta Santa Barbara (sbfiesta.org)
As far as the weather goes, it is starting out perfect. A nice cool morning to start the day with the ocean A/C working to perfection. No actual AC needed in SB. 58 degrees to start our morning!
It does look like we will have 3 cooler days with highs in the upper 70s to 80 coastal and a nice mid 80s in the valleys. This will be a nice change to the heat the valleys have seen over the last few weeks.
On Saturday it all changes back to hot. 95 to 105 in the valleys. 110 in the interior and upper 80s coastal.
Sunday will be the hottest day of the weekend and weeks.
A cooling trend will start next week, along with a possibility of monsoonal moisture moving in. This will need to be watched, but in the mean time, nice cooler weather through Friday, then we heat up Saturday, especially in the valleys and interior through Monday.
Viva La fiesta
