Good Tuesday morning and the last day in August,
Looks like there are a few light showers out there is morning over the Eastern Santa Barbara mountains. This really should not amount to more then a few 100s of an inch of rain.
https://zoom.earth/#view=33.51,-114.79,6.24z/date=2021-08-31,07:00,-7
The real change will be in the temps, 10 to 15 degrees cooler in the valleys with 4 to 6 degrees along the coast with a deeper marine layer.
The cooler weather will continue into Thursday, then a gradual warm up for the weekend. Sunday will be the warmest day, with a little off shore flow.
All in all, a great work week forecast, not too hot.
Don’t forget to vote Action roofing for the best roofing company in Santa Barbara!

Good Monday morning,
I hope everyone had a great weekend. Now it is back to work.
No real excitement in our weather this week.
Highs in SB will be in the mid 70s and valleys mid 80s starting Tuesday.
Today will be the last hot day in the inland areas with 90s . Before a cool down on Tuesday

As for the rest of the week, just nice weather for early September.
Yes September arrives on Wednesday and Labor Day a week away.
Where has the summer gone.
Good news is Southern California still has 2 more months of summer, just shorter days.
Looking into the tropical regions, hurricane Nora fizzled out as it landed along the Mexican coast in the Baja. This will work its way north into the Rockie mountains and bring them some heavy rain mid week. Ida has rocked Louisiana and is now a tropical storm, which will push east and move into the Atlantic as a tropical depression on Friday bringing new York, New Jersey and those folks heavy rain.
Have a great week !

Good Thursday morning,
What a crazy day Wednesday, with folks commuting from Lompoc and the Santa Ynez valley.
101 was closed in both directions with only 154 as a passage, then another accident on the 154 closed that until 1:15 pm. Needless to say a lot of people turned around and went home , with a day off, because they could not get to Santa Barbara.
The fires are still burning in Northern California, and we are seeing some of the haze from there. This is what has been causing our red sunsets the last 3 nights.
From the weather front, warm above normal August weather is on tap through the weekend. Santa Barbara will see highs in the mid 80s and lows around 65.
The Santa Ynez valley will see low 90s for daytime highs and low 60s for nighttime lows.
Looking towards the south, down in the Baja. There is another tropical storm brewing that will affect Cabo this weekend . Looks like lots of rain, but manageable winds . This is creating a super green hill for them with October being the month to visit.
Too Hot, rainy and humid is the month of September.
Enjoy the rest of the work week and your weekend.
See you at Zoofari Saturday night.

Good Tuesday morning,
Are you ready for less fog and warmer weather? Ready or not, here it comes.
It looks like a high of 77 along the coast today, with some morning fog. Then low 80s the rest of the week into Monday of next week.
In the valleys you will see 90s for the next 7 days with warm August weather.
https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-119.68505859374999&lat=34.4273016631587#.YSTmXy1HafD
The ocean temp continues to be warm for Santa Barbara at 66 degrees.
We will see if tropical storm Marty warms the ocean in the next few days.
The interesting thing about Marty is, this hurricane started out in the Atlantic as hurricane Grace, then crossed Mexico and turned back into a hurricane and was named Marty. Marty is now a tropical storm going out further into the Pacific Ocean after giving Cabo plenty of rain the past few days. There is one more system to the south in the tropical region. This should form the next hurricane in a few days.
There are 4 in the Atlantic scattered all over.

The season for hurricanes is ramping up.
As always, I love the earth view.
Enjoy the warm weather!

Good Monday morning,
The start to another work week will keep us cooler the first 2 days, then we warm up the second half of the week.
Santa Barbara will see highs around 75 degrees the next 2 days, followed by upper 70s and low 80s into the weekend.
https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-119.68093867041169&lat=34.426622016635676
The valleys will also be warming as the week progresses, we will see mid 80s early in the week, warming to mid-90s the second half of the week.
As mentioned yesterday, we are getting into the heart of the hurricane season. Even here in Santa Barbara, the water temps are rising currently at 67 degrees.
https://tides4fishing.com/us/california/santa-barbara/forecast/water-temperature
That also lets me think about the upcoming rainy season and the El Nino-La Nina season. As we are all aware, we desperately need rain this year.
El Nino means warmer water and better storms, La Nina is cooler weather and less rain. Right now we are looking at a more neutral season.
The water temp now is slightly above normal, but the predictions is Neutral. Bottom line, we just need rain.
Here is the report:
You are now up to date for the week. Have a great week and Saturday is one of the best events in Santa Barbara, ”Zoofari.“
If you have not been there, you missed out. Sadly, it is sold out for 2021 unless you know someone with extra tickets.

See you there!

Good Wednesday morning,
August weather will change to June like weather today.
There is even a few showers out there over the coastal waters.
https://zoom.earth/#view=34.53,-115.93,6z/date=2021-08-18,05:50,-4
Today will be much cooler with valley temps highs only in the upper 70s.
Coastal, there is of course fog, which will clear later in the morning. Highs in the low 70s. It looks like everyone will see cooler temps through the weekend before a warm up begins early next week.
Thursday, there is even a chance for some morning drizzle along the coast.
All in all, a cooler next 4 days. More June like than August.
Enjoy the cooler weather!

Good Tuesday morning,
No real excitement as August is pretty predictable, just continues with nice weather.
The cooler weather will now start to warm up again inland and along the coast. Some fog then clearing.
Looks like Wednesday we will see a slight chance for rain 20%, but if we get any, it is going to be around 5/100.
Valleys will warm 8 to 10 degrees and the coast will stay around 80.

Good Friday the 13th,
I hope you are not superstitious. If you are, stay in bed.
Here is how the weather looks around the world. The mid west is having some real storms as indicated with the red. A few tropical systems in the Baja are drifting up towards us. With the first “Kevin” throwing some high clouds at us. On the east coast looks like the pan handle of Florida will see a tropical system creating excitement there.
And summer weather everywhere else with hot 🥵 temps through most of the US.
Back home, a little haze from the fire in NorCal and high clouds from Kevin will keep the full blue skies hazy. High pressure to our East over the Rockies is keeping the valleys warm this weekend. There is even an Eddy over Catalina this morning.
All in all, a warm summer weekend in SoCal.

Next week we have a few degrees of cooling in the beginning of the week, then warming by Thursday. Just typical summer weather.
Highs in the low 80s along the coast and 90 to 100 in the valleys.
Have a great weekend!

Good Thursday morning,
Let’s drop back to Wednesday for a moment because it became quite an interesting day.
The subtropical moisture made it further north than we thought it would, and it drifted over the coastal areas.
This made for some fun rain drops and woke us up on the roofs. This all lead to a .0009 of an inch in Santa Barbara.
Yes, that is less then 1/100 of an inch. So really nothing. One of the big winners was Avalon harbor with .14 in Catalina.
What was something, was the sunset.
If you missed it, Adam and I have you covered. All were great photos, and you can figure out which ones are from my yard.

Thanks for sharing Adam.
Today and through the weekend, we are shifting to high fire danger, with high pressure building in on the West coast. This is going to crank up the temps in the valleys and inland areas. Making it 100 plus where you can not see the Pacific Ocean. Here we will see the nice low 80s in the high rent district of Santa Barbara.
The nice weather will be with us through the weekend, then Monday we will see some cooling with fog and low clouds on Monday through Wednesday.
Long range forecast is hinting that tropical storm Linda (now in Cabo) will drift north and could affect Nor Cal late in the week. We will watch this, but a tropical storm that far North is not typical.

From the COVID front. I found this article very interesting. It seems all the younger 18 to 39 are the group with the greatest infection rate as of late. The spread is 5 to 1 unvaccinated to Vaccinated.
https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/030e625c69a04378b2756de161f82ef6
The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department issued a new health officer order last week requiring everyone — regardless of vaccination status — to wear face coverings in indoor public settings to slow the spread of COVID-19.
The Public Health Department released a new chart on its data dashboard breaking down new positive cases by vaccination status, going back to May. The latest data available shows that for the week, ending Friday, 391 of the county’s 505 reported cases were among unvaccinated people, and 114 were among fully vaccinated people.
In response to rising COVID-19 case rates in Santa Barbara County, organizers of Santa Barbara’s decades-old Old Spanish Days Fiesta called off public events. Organizers announced that three performers had tested positive for the novel coronavirus, which factored into the cancellations.
As California experiences the “fastest increase in cases during the entire pandemic,” the state Department of Public Health issued a health officer order last week that requires all workers in health-care settings to be fully vaccinated by Sept. 30.
The state is also now requiring that all visitors to general acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and intermediate care facilities be fully vaccinated or provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test before entering.
As local schools gear up for the new year and the return to in-person learning, districts mapped out their new state-mandated Independent Study program and discussed how to implement the state’s universal masking requirement for K.
Ok that’s a wrap for the day. Have a great day!
Look all this by 3:45 am.
Time to go to my day job 😊

Good Wednesday morning,
Just a perfect sunny day starting off in Santa Barbara. High pressure is building in and nice weather will be part of our days for the next 5.
Highs in Santa Barbara will be around 80 for the next 5 days, with the possibility of a Marine layer sneaking in here and there along the coast.
The Santa Ynez valley will be warm, with highs in the low 90s the next 5 days.
Out in the mountains and deserts, “Hot” with chances of some thunder and lighting showers the next few days.
To the south near the Baja and Cabo …. Hot and wet as 2 tropical systems are passing to the west of there.
All are out to sea, but thunder and lighting along with some downpours will keep sunbathers off the beaches.

Returning to home, here in SB county. It was interesting to pull up the COVID infection numbers.
I have not looked at this for some time. Infections are certainly on the rise in some areas right now.

Good Thursday morning,
I have good news to report, we will now start a cool down after the heat of this week with highs in SB of 86 and Palm Springs 120.
Temps will return to the low to mid 70s along the Santa Barbara coast for the next 5 days.
Inland, plus 10 degrees but very nice for this time of year.
https://zoom.earth/
It looks like Sunday will be the coolest day of the next 7 with highs in the low 70s in SB.
Next Tuesday looks to begin another warmup with the heat coming back.
Valleys will be back into the triple digits and coast around 80.
This is the no Fiesta week again this year with the mask 😷 mandate indoors coming back at 5pm Friday.
1 step forward, then backwards ……. I need to find my old masks ….
No further comment from me.
Have a nice weekend, you will start out the morning with a sweatshirt and some fog.
Enjoy Viva La no Fiesta!
Thank you government.
