5/27/16 Rain or Not?
Well good morning from weather central.
The weather system approaching is rolling down the interior of California today. This will bring cooler temps, lots of wind, and a slight possibility of rain. You can see the moisture starved system on the map below
This system is taking an inland track, which does not give much moisture support. The only rain that will squeeze out will be from colder air support. Inland areas have a better chance of rain or thunderstorms this afternoon and tonight.
For us in Santa Barbara, I doubt it. Maybe some build ups over the mountains. As far as winds go… Yes, they will be back again. Expect wind conditions to start back up later in the afternoon and pick up this evening… Northwest again..
Thursday will also be a windy day.
Friday into the weekend…Well they are changing the forecast for the weekend, it now looks like fog Saturday and another inside slider for Sunday into Monday morning.
This will just keep us cooler and there is not a big warming trend for the weekend.
Ok that’s it for the day. Maybe I will need a nap.
Got up too early…..
4/25/16 Windy Weather
Welcome to spring,
Winds were crazy last night. Today and tonight will be more of the same.
Tuesday the winds die and it will be a nice day.
Wednesday a weather system approaches, although jury is still out on the exact track of this system. Forecasts look like we should see some light rain Wednesday night into Thursday. We will know a little better on Tuesday morning whether it will be a coastal or eastern track of this system.
In the meantime, watch out for the winds today….
The end of the week and weekend is looking sunny, warm, and summer like with off shore winds
4/6/16 Last Nice Day Of The Week
Good morning,
April seems to be starting out like the last 2 months. The first part of it is going to be wet.
Lets hope it will continue longer into the month. Look at this graphic
http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-119.69657826185224&lat=34.42506575694057#.VwUE2Y-cGUk
Today will be the last nice day of the week. Temps will be well above normal, Sunny and warm. Expect 80’s in most locations today.Enjoy it while it is here, because it all changes tonight.
Tonight, offshore winds turn to onshore. Thursday morning will start out damp. The first system is coming up out of the Baja. You can see it on the satellite.
It packs a big blob of clouds.
This will move in on Thursday during the day. Expect some rain, showery in nature Thursday afternoon and night.
Friday the main part of the system will be over head. This again will bring additional rainfall. Do not expect rain all day long. This entire period will bring us rain on and off, expect 1/4 to 1/2 over Thursday and Friday.
Saturday, all eyes shift to the north. There is a weather system that will give us weekend rains. This is a much colder system with rain somewhat heavier. We will see rain Saturday and Sunday which could give us another 1/2 inch of rain.
It will start drying out Monday and the first half of Tuesday. Then, there is one more system coming in for late Tuesday into Wednesday.
So that’s the good news. It has been a awhile since rain has been in the forecast. As much as it will not change the drought situation, we will take whatever the rain Gods will give us.
Enjoy the sunny nice day. It will be the last one of the week.
4/5/14 Good Tuesday Morning
Good Tuesday morning,
It is nice to be able to report at least some rain in our forecast.
First we will enjoy 2 days of great weather before it all changes for the rest of the week and into the weekend.
Today and Wednesday will be great days. Starting out cold in the valleys, but it will warm up nicely. Expect 80s for most areas. Wednesday will be the warmest day.
Thursday the changes arrive from the south, with low pressure drifting over us. This is more subtropical in nature, so rain will not be a lot. Thursday night and Friday expect scattered showers with maybe 1/4 of an inch of rain.
A system to the north will then move in Saturday. This should give us a little better punch. Expect rain sometime Saturday and Sunday. This system could give us a 1/3 of an inch. One model is calling for even wetter. We will need to watch this and see how thing shape up.
Long range, well tough to call, but again one model calls for another system the first of next week….
We will hope! Pray! Dance? For rain.
Not that it is going to help the water shed, but keep us greener for longer… It sure is pretty out there right now in the hills.
Have a great few days of sun and warmth

4/4/16 Monday Forecast
Good Monday,
Here we go… first week in April. This week will be summer like for the first half of the week, then spring showers the second half of the week.
We will start out with 3 days of warm weather. Tuesday and Wednesday will be downright hot for this time of year. Expect temps in the 80s and even 90.
Thursday it all begins to change. There are 2 different low pressure systems that will affect us, one to the south coming up out of the Baja on Thursday and Friday, then another one coming down from the north.
The one to the south will be a cut-off low. We are really not sure where it will drift at this point. We will see how much rain we can get out of this one.
Saturday there is another low. This one moves north to south. Models have a better handle on this one, bringing us rain. We will get rain this week, it is just how much and where. Areas south of us LA and below will see rain from the Baja system. Just how far north it will come for us.
The weekend looks good for us, with at least some rain. Time will tell us the facts and rain totals…
Ok that’s it for now… Have a great week
